I have a headache for almost a week straight!!!!!!! I think that I might just beat my father inlaw like a drum!!!!!

Just kidding of course. The kids really love them and they have been good about the times they are allowed to play them. Just look at those smiles. My father in law is a drummer and is required by law...(my law) to teach the boys to do more than just make noise!!:drummer:

Maybe, secretly, I want to learn also. :D

LOL!!! One of the things I have enjoyed about having grandkids is buying them stuff to take home and annoy the crap put of their mother! (Not really... )

You know, my younger brother used to bang on everything! He used his silverware to beat on his plate, his pencils to beat on his desk, his hands to beat on the walls. He used to pretend to be the drummer when my parents played Ravel's "Bolero'.

When Santa brought him a little snare drum one Christmas, he drove everyone up the wall. His favorite song was the Christmas song, "Little Drummer Boy".

Eventually, the snare drum turned into a set of Ludwig drums in the garage, and by the time he was in High School he played drums/percussion in the marching band, symphonic band, and jazz band... as well as his own rock band, 'Beowulf'. I can't tell you how many times I heard his version of the drum solo from "Inna Gadda da Vida" by Iron Butterfly, LOL! (Most of you younger members probably don't know that song...)

As an adult, he played as a back-up and studio drummer for musicians such as Kenny Loggins and George Benson. He turned out to be quite an accomplished musician!

I still see him as the "Little Drummer Boy".

Thanks for thinking of my ears all.

Chris the set is the accent cs series from Ludwig. It is a wonderful set that is just mini sized for kids.

My father in law seriously has about 6 quality drum sets. He takes his drums very seriously. He has been recorded and has toured with Heart. He is really an excellent drummer. Still plays with a few garage type bands today and the kids love to see him rock out.

I told him the kids would have been happy with a cheapy set but he wasn't having it. I told him that they would have been just as happy with just getting the box.

Sorry Jeremy, I think your inlaws just hate you. :main_laugh:

I'm glad your boys are enjoying them - that's a very cool gift. I know my boys love to bang on things - I think it's a genetic boy thing (kinda like when my six month old son farted in the tub and started laughing........who taught him that?!?!?) Perhaps you could sneak in a give 'em a try. I'd say *quietly* sneak in, but I don't think that would cut it. ;)

I agree with Paul, the look on their faces says it all. Sorry about your headache. ;)

It reminds me of my sister. I can really love her but not when she sends my niesce and nephews over after them eating a ton of sugar and every toy they bring make load noises lmao.
We had my oldest nephew(14) here for a week and he was pretty good. I still think he should have spent Christmas with his mom but whatever.

My parent would kill anyone that would bring that to my house. I bang on everything already and make enough noise with friends.....

No real drums in our house, but one of my 14 year olds got himself Rock Band for x-box 360 and the whole house shakes. He takes it up to Lake Placid when he goes (he's on the luge team) and the entire luge team and half the bobsled team sits around the lounge in the evenings playing. It's very funny to watch.

Have you ever seen the movie, "Pay it Forward?"
Well, this applies to grandparenthood, also. Except, different...:main_evilgrin:

My mother got my children things like noisy "Hippo-Lotta-Funs" and million piece lego sets. Once, my folks got one of my kids one of those "Clip-Clop, The Wonder Horse" bouncing horses. After it was strapped to the top of my car and we were ready to leave, my father (God rest his soul) without us knowing, turned the darned thing on. For 22 miles we heard nothing but "clip, clop, clip, clop, NEIGH!"
As luck would have it, we hit no red lights all the way home, so we couldn't just jump out and turn it off...
Dad found this hilarious.
So as an act of retaliation, this year, my grandsons got electronic drum sets, 120 piece mega block sets, xylophones and a set of "stupid guns." (Guns that fire the little round foam discs. Theres 150 discs to the set!)
Every time my son Josh said, "Gee... Thanks mom." I knew I did a good job.:main_thumbsup:
Oh, and Pheonix got a rocking horse that neighs and whinnies and makes clipity-clop sounds. :D

This granma thing rocks!

Thats Funny!!!!!!!!

It wasn't my inlaws it was my Dad That threatened to get that exact drum set for my boys. I told him that if he did he would either keep it at his house or he'd be cut off!!!!!!!! Needless to say, according to him its all payback. I feel your pain.
