I would like to make a foam rock wall myself, but if the foam alone costs over $100, it is not worth while for as many cages as I have (9 right now, with two more to come).

Just a heads up, if you are interested in making for yourself. The foam itself isn't the expensive part, it's the grout, paint, and sealer that get you. However, seeing as you would be buying for more than one use, the cost of the grout and sealer would be nothing. You'd probably wind up spending +/-$350 to do all 11 tanks (assuming they're all 20g), if you're smart about it.

I have to say no, because I build them myself and it would take away all the fun :p I would imagine there would be a market though, if you could keep the cost as low as possible!

Most likely yes, if it is designed in such a way that I can disassemble it for easy maintenance (cleaning). A modular system would work if it were separate pieces that can inter-lock depending on the desired set-up or enclosure size. This way I can buy only the pieces that I need and still have the option to expand/upgrade later on.

I think your best market would be at reptile shows. That's where you'll find the biggest group of people with wads of cash in their pockets. Lots of the people there are pet owners and these are the ones who will be likely to spend the money to upgrade their leos (or others) homes.

I would bet that if you could make set ups, you'd sell them all & possibly book some orders for delivery after the show. If the reptile show fails, get on craigslist & sell them there, that way you can deal with local pick ups until your business is established.

Does this keep showing up under new posts for anyone else?

It's my thread, and even I'm annoyed by it. Haha.

Mods if you want to close or delete this thread to keep it from coming up in new posts, that's fine.

Somebody dragged it back up by voting in the poll, every vote bumps it to the top.

Half the fun is making it yourself! ;0)

I second this.

I spent many weeks making my own hides and backgrounds. It got pretty expensive. I thought about making them to sell, but decided it wasn't worth the money I was putting into it. I never finished one of the ones I was working on. I wish that I had, though.

I'd think that more people find it easier, cheaper, and more fun to make their own. I'd be in this boat.

Ooops. I didn't realize how old the thread was. Ha.
