ok, so when it comes time to breed, if i have them all seperated in their own tubs, who do i introduce where? should i put the male in the female's cage or the other way around, does it even make a difference. at the moment i have them in community tanks but i plan on having a rack system very soon. i wanna do this right.

you can have them in pairs (if they get along) and nature will do its job, that is if you have the minimum tank size obo 20 gallon, and that works as long as you have tons of hides for them to get away from each other. And its asier to care for one tank then multiple other. But if you have a multitude of geckos, my friends usually put the female in the males tank.

I have put males into the females tanks and females in the males tanks and both worked well. Some people like putting the female in the males tanks because of his scent. The males scent will sometimes push the female to want to breed if she isn't ready yet.

I have heard that if the female isn't ovulating then some people put some pieces of the paper towels from the males tank into the females tank. It will cause the female to ovulate.

Most of the time they are going to do it or not. If both are ready then either one will work.

I don't generally keep my females and males together 24/7 because it puts stress on both of them expecially if you just have one female with the male. I like to put them together for 24 hours or so acouple times to make sure that the dirty deed is done and then put them back in their own tanks. Once they have breed acouple time then that is sufficent enought and I would seperate them from there. Its not a bad thing if you keep them together 24/7 but I prefer not to.

Yeah 24-36 hour intros are the best way to do it. Like already said, it doesnt really matter who gets put in with whom. I put females with males, but I've done it the other way around and each way is equally successful.

I here what your saying about the rack. I am building one this week and here's how I'm doing it. What you'll need.

- Four tall pieces of wood around 8' tall
- 2-10 thick cardboard pieces about 4' by 2'
- Some tubs. I use 28qt tubs from Wal-Mart for 4$ each
- A table saw

1) Find a place where you want to put the rack. It should be near some outlets and not near a window.
2) Stand the wood up with one piece in a corner like ' ' the shape there.
' '
3) Cut a whole in one of the cardboard shelves on each corner. Then slide the 4 pieces of wood through and the cardboard try to make it balance by sliding it up and down.
4) Between each shelf with the tub in it make sure there is at least 1" of room.
5) To add more shelves simply make a little crevice in each pieces of the wood and slide the cardboard shelves so they go through the crevice.
6) I like to put a layer of aluminum foil under each tank so that the heat tape doesn't get to the cardboard. I use the 4" flexwatt heat tape controlled by a thermostat. The thermostat is set for 95 degrees. Each tub should consist of 1 hide, water bowl, and calcium dish. For the hide if you use the 3 or 4" heat tape it can act as a cool and warm side by simply adjusting it's position over the heat tape.

I put the females in with the males. When the female gets into the males territory copulation will occur.
