Is it possible to encourage a female to ovulate?

I read somewhere online that female leopard geckos may never ovulate or lay eggs if they've never had a male around in their life. I'm not sure if that is true, but if it is, I'm curious if there is a way to encourage my female to ovulate.

It's possible but not guaranteed that your gecko may ovulate eventually in the presence of a male. Many of my single female geckos are ovulating and one laid a pair of infertile eggs.

Put her in with the male for a trial. If either of them is overly aggressive, separate them and try in another week. If they're tolerating each other without violence (remember that male mating can look a bit violent), leave them together for 3 days or so, separate them and keep checking the female to see if anything is happening. If nothing is happening after 3 weeks, repeat.
