So I was at PetSmart today picking up some worms...and I went to check out the reptiles (like always...I know I should resist :( ) and they had a crestie in there...and it was SUPER dark green...kinda black. Is that normal coloring? I'm used to the yellow, I thought that was normal. Or was it like how leos get when they're sick?

I bet this is a stupid question! LOL

Thanks guys :)

I'm pretty new when it comes to Crested Geckos. But, I've been learning a lot about them lately, and strive to learn as much about them as I can.

The darkest cresties I've seen so far, and not saying they're the only ones out there, are the dark charcoal bi-color cresties and the dark chocolate flames from Pangea. They're also the only site that I've seen green crested's on so far. Since they're currently working on a special project involving green cresties (Green Fires).

Again, I'm not saying they're the only site/breeder with dark or green crested geckos. So, with that, I hope the color isn't due to the little fella being sick. I hope someone can answer your question, as my interest and curiousity is now piqued.

Yes without a pic its hard to say but there are olive colored cresties out there. It may be fired down, it maybe very cold, or it may be sick. Hard to say unless you got a pic and examined it. Olive colored cresties, i havent to many of. Maybe itd be a good pick up?

Hmm really no one has seen one? Darn! I should've taken a pic then...didn't really think of it :(

He was full grown and very dark green with some green spots, he looked pretty healthy to me, not skiny or anything...but who knows, I don't know 'too' much about these guys. Just thought I'd ask since I figured they were common. Guess not!!

Shush Tara!!!

I'll see if I can go back there. Are they really that rare? He was so weird looking. I say he because he had pretty big buldges, so I'm assuming.

They ask so much for them...and I'll have to buy a cage and everything. :main_rolleyes I still have CGD though. : I mean cresties aren't like ugly, and I'm not COMPLETLY against them just didn't really want one right now.

I have branches, some logs... meh! Really don't want to spend $80 on him. I hate you Tara :p

Will a 20gal upright work...There's a few on CL. If not I probably won't get him. Not going to spend $100 on supplies right now.

I cant say Rare but i can say you dont see them to often up for sale(perhaps check pangea forums?). I dont think anyones doing anything with that coloration breednig wise. Itd be neat to see a bi-colored green crestie:main_thumbsup: You wouldnt need to get a cage necessarily a tub would work too. Its the plants and coverage;D I know what ya mean. There no where near as great as leos! But they do have there moments. I only have 3 but the 3 i have are just funnyXD Dive bombing from a branch down onto a dubia...Makes for good videoXD

Sorry i dont mean ta pressure ya. I just HATE pet stores>.> Cant stand hearing/seeing/knowing theres one there that could definatly find a better home.

Do you have any pics on how a tub set-up would work? If I can put him in a tub then I'll be more leaning towards getting him, I've thought about them before (was planning on getting one, I've done the research)...

Since I can't edit my post he was dark green with gold spots.

Do they need the substrate? Can I just use paper towels? Like I said I have everything but leaves, which are pretty cheap. -At least I think I have everything :p

Sorry didnt turn them so there side ways but mine are a bit more elaberate. The bigger one has a door with screen(first "model") plants wood rock hide, and a "mushroom ledge" lol littler ones are the way im liking. Using the cover as the door. Makes it easierXD So back and top are cut out for ventalation and replaced with screen then holes are drilled into the sides and the door.

A storage tup will be fine, maybe glue on a piece of screen for ventalation, drop in a few vines, have a water dish and mist daily, and a small cap of
CGD.

Actually a water dish is a waste. Apparently they dont drink out of them but off the plants. Misting is a must.

Thanks guys, and ty so much for the pics. I have a tub just like that laying around.

I'm heading to the petstore in a lil bit to take some pics...hopefully he's still there.

I can't remember Wes, he just looked dark green with a few light gold spots. I only looked for a quick sec.
