yesterday at work i had to explain the difference between a gecko and geico to someone no less than 5 times. yes, geico has a gecko for a mascot but that does not mean a gecko is a geico! geico is an insurance company that has nothing to do with geckos except for having one as a mascot. NO NO NO NO NO for the last time NO we do not get geckos from geico! geico will inusre your car, it will not sell you a gecko. why is this so confusing to people?

I hear, "Oh, like the Geico gecko!" sometimes when I tell people that we breed Leopard geckos. Not exactly the same...LOL Most people down here think all geckos are Anoles so I guess a Day gecko is a little closer!

My crackhead brother in law says geicos... "Any new geicos hatch Mike?" Yes he is a crackhead and yes he honestly calls them geicos... I'm so glad my sis is divorcing him...

Sorry for the off topic rant... ;)

LOL I get that all the time, when I tell people I have geckos they automatically come out with, like the geico gecko lol. It could be worse I guess, not like alot of other crap out there that makes these types of animals look evil or whatever.

Yeah, and a day gecko with an Australian accent at that! Phelsuma are from Madagascar (and South African islands).... another pet peeve of mine! A U. Milii would have been a much better choice if they wanted to go "Australian"...

Sorry, had to add to it with my own rant...

My boss at work askes me all the time how my geicos are. After showing many pictures to my boss and co-workers showing that they do not remotely look close. Oh well. At least they are not like my apartment manager. He called my leopard gecko an iguana.

i always thought he was more english... either way the accent is dumb.

the commercial where he says "i love clams" always makes me go WTH. geckos don't eat clams.

I don't know if it was here or on a nother forum I belong to(not herps)

But what I am trying to say is this was brought up and I don't think you will find one Australian disputing his heavy English accent

English, hm? Sounds far more Australian to me. When I went to London no one sounded like him, but he sounded more like a few Aussies I've known.

In all actuality, it's an American dude trying to fake an accent, so it's not really either.

As for the gecko thing, I hate that too. How hard is it to tell the difference between a small animal and an insurance company? Anyone seen 'Idiocracy' lately...?
