Just when I thought the meal worms I was raising to become beetles were dying... they are like all changing into pupae I think. I got 10 Pupae today.
If the rest of my worms change I think I will have way to many pupae like atleast a hundred. lol So how many pupae is to many for a small collection of geckos? lol

or sell them since there is such a shortage. I am in the same boat as you. I thought my mealworms were dying but they are all changing into Pupae. I have two beetles so far. How long until the eggs & until they hatch?

Remember that adult beetles have kind of a short lifespan, so all those pupae will turn into beetles and then they'll die and you'll need more.

well most of my mealies started acting very sluggish. Now I have over 20 pupae. lol I am thinking all of them will change into beetles within a few days of each other.
I hope my 6 geckos are very hungry. lol
And most of my mealies that I put aside for my breeding are very large so I am thinking they are all going to change into pupae soon.
I would sell mealies if I had way to many extra but I know absolutely nothing about the cost of shipping mealies and if you have to overnight them or not.
Guess I could feed the birds. lol

When I have extra mealworms I sell them on craigslist for $5 for 80 grams which is just about 1000. No shipping to worry about. If you know people locally with leos, you could sell to them. I supply 2 people who bought my geckos at $1 for 50 mealworms.

you can slow down the large worms by putting them in the fridge............so you will have some to feed with. out once a week for 24 hrs. so they can eat and hydrate.........HJ

What do you do with them? Just seperate them into their own
container and let them turn into beetles?
Do the beetles eat the eggs or the little worms?
Sorry for the dumb questions, I've never tried to raise them (as you could tell :main_huh: ).

its new to me also. But from what I understand you just seperate them give the beetles potato/carrot or what ever you use for moisture and oats and they will reproduce. I believe they wont eat there young as long as you keep something with moisture in there for them to feed on and stuff.
Also I wouldnt keep to many beetles per container. You can use small containers since the beetles arent big or anything and dont need much room.I am keeping mine in the small Glade disposiable lunch containers since they are small and stack easily.

I sell mine to a couple of people here locally and the local pet store buys from me. The money I get selling them pays for the bedding that I buy for the mealies and the potatoes and carrots that I get from a local guy.
