Don't forget to put a little dish in there for them with calcium powder, if u haven't already... that will help alot for their healthy comeback! A gatorade bottle cap works best i find...

and dust the worms or whatever you are feeding them with it aswell...

I have calcium an multi-vits in there in bowls and I have calcium in the meal worm dish. I also dust everything else they eat.

They both ate a bunch of both when they were first given it.

Right now, they are both climbing around. I have never seen more curious leos. I really can't wait to see them when they are healthy. They have such great personalities.

I'm so upset that someone actually let these guys get in this condition. I really want to find that person and starve until they are nothing but skin and bone... I actually get nauseous thinking about it...

Please don't start a rant war (is that a term?), I just had to get that off my chest.

Just so no one get offended, I will not be starving anyone... It's just a fantasy.

Today, I was giving Bones his eye flush (calling another vet tomorrow) and decided to weigh him. He has gained 4 grams and looks like he is going into shed! I know it is too early to come to any conclusions, but that's not bad for less than a week.

Buttercup has gained 5, but isn't going in to shed.

Pardon my repeated posting, but I'm really worried about these guy and get excited easily.

I was only planning on getting one, but when I saw them I had to take them. At the moment, I don't have a way to seperate them. I guess I will have to get creative with some plexiglass.

I haven't found a vet yet, but I will keep calling.

The temps are holding at 89*-92* depending if the a/c id on or off.

I just recently put up a divider in my 29 gallon since my two girls were fighting off and on.

All of the supplies I got were from Lowe's minus the fishtank background. Whole project cost me less than 15 bucks.

2 pieces of plexiglass - they cut it at lowe's for free, just take your measurments in, and make sure to go slightly smaller.

1 pack of clear hooks with sticky release adhesive tape - The hooks are see-through, so they don't draw too much attention. I also left the tabs on the bottom just in case if I ever wanted to take the plexiglass out.

1 fish tank background - double sided.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Figure out where you want your divider. Stick the first side of the hooks in. One in the front and one in the back on the same side.
2) Cut the background down to size, sandwhich between the plexiglass.
3) Slide in the plexiglass, background.
4) Put in the other two hook on the bottom opposite side, making sure it hold the glass snugly.
5) For extra stability and to use up the last two hook, I placed one on opposite sides. One in the front, one in the back.
6) Step back and enjoy.
Whole thing took less than 5 min to set up, plus it also leaves the glass free enough to be taken out for cleaning and such. I've had Hera (who's a hefty 53 grams) try to knock it over when she first discovered it. Still hasn't budged.
I can take pics need be, just send a pm.
I tool a piece of styrofoam, cut it to size, wrapped it in tape (to prevent them from eating and climbing it) and wedged it in. I cut it a little wider than I needed, so it would fit in tight without taping it to the sides.
I had to turn the meal worm dish into a water bowl, so I just have to find something to use as a worm dish and they will be set.
Side note, Bones, is 28 grams and, Buttercup, is 43 grams.
I have been keeping Bones' eye washed out with saline solution. I didn't get a chance to call the vet today, I had some bad cheeseburgers yesterday. Let just say I wasn't in any shape to call or go anywhere.
Well, they both got a dose of dewormer today. In two weeks, I have to submit another fecal sample to see if further treatment is necessary.
Both Bones and Buttercup is in shed right now. It should come off sometime tonight. I am hoping that the new shed, along with a proper humid hide will help the shed come off right. I am also hoping that it will help Bones' eye.
I have been watching his eye when I put the drops in. It is an eye cap that didn't come off. If it doesn't, he WILL be going to the vet. I won't like the price, but if it was my eye, I would be at the hospital in an instant. He deserves the same.
Good news everyone!
I talked to a vet and we decided the best course of action was just to keep Bones' eye flushed with saline solution. That was a few days ago, I don't remember which... Anyways, it worked. His eye is clear and has had no more shed problems. All I have to do now, is get some weight on him. After his deworming, he has started eating better, but is still at 28 grams as of two days ago. He is the pickiest eater I have. He eats one or two crickets a day plus a few meal worms (was eating only meal worms, about 3 or 4 a day). I am contemplating using an appetite stimulant, but want to talk to his vet first. His body frame is small, like Pax's, so I don't expect him to be more that about 50 grams when healthy, but that is still a long journey.
Buttercup on the other hand, is thriving. She is at a decent 46 grams and eats everything in sight, including my fingers. :)
I think we found the trail, but we're not out of the woods yet. Next Friday is Bones' next vet visit for a follow-up, so I should know more then.
Keep your fingers crossed!
Oh, I said earlier that they were eating like crazy. That was before I separated them and it turned out that Buttercup was the one doing all the eating.
Congratulations on the beautiful new geckos! Glad to hear they are with you and are doing well.
Isnt it amazing how much will to live leopard geckos have? I've worked with other species of reptiles and havent found another one yet like leo's. My first leo was a very ill leo and I'll never forget how she fought to get well.
So more pics??
As Promised
Here are a few new pics of Bones and Buttercup (My BBs).
It turns out even though Buttercup is meaner than Bones, she is much more photogenic.
Lets start with Bones:
Background is an Army pancho liner tucked into a small Kritter Keeper and I used the light from my toad tank for lighting.
Side note: DO NOT BUY CAMERA BATTERIES FROM EBAY! I bought these things and while they last longer than normal AAs when fully charged, I spent more time changing batteries than I did taking photos...
Lots of dusting, that little curl in Bones' top jaw is something I would watch closely.
They look much better! Buttercup has such pretty dark colors. I love Bones' smiley pattern on his head.
Congrats!
I thought that curl was from the shed being stuck, but thank you, I will keep an eye on it.
Bones, still isn't eating right. I think he took one cricket this week. Tonight, I mixed up some slurry for my other rescue, so I started him on it as well. Mostly, just to help him gain some weight and get the energy to hunt.
