Well, here it is, the middle of December, and I still haven't put one bit of Christmas decorations up or bought one present. Our oldest son and his family moved to NC earlier this year, so no grandsons to spoil rotten. Finances are still pretty tight and now I've been "voluntold" to work Christmas day.

I just can't seem to find any Christmas spirit.

Anyone else been hit by the "Hum bug" this year?

Awwww, that's so sad!! I just love Christmas! I hope you guys cheer up about it soon! It's such a wonderful time of year. I don't even care about getting presents, I just love giving them and have good food and being around people I love.

Cheer up! :)

It's been a horrible year for us...the economy, business, etc. The only good thing is that Danny and I finally got married lol. Christmas this year just is not the same...hopefully by next year I'll be more in the spirit.

Family , friends , health and bills being paid far out wieght the need to recieve gifts or decorate to me.

I don't decorate. I just love spending quality time with Jon's family, and we get to go to New Orleans every year because that's where they live! So it's more the tradition of going down there that I love. I just love Christmastime in New Orleans.

The economy isn't really bothering me since I didn't have any money to begin with or a job, lol..

A lot of negative things have happened this year that seemed to have over shadowed the positive even though I'm still trying to hold on to some of it. but everyone around me seems to be TRYING TOO HARD or going nuts over gifts and that's not what Christmas means to me. Christmas is more of a feeling of togetherness and peaceful between family and friends that should just come naturally. This year everyone seems weirded out and just pushing for that best christmas which is kind of spoiling it. i dunno maybe its just me.

I'll post pictures of the incredibly tacky yard ornaments. And maybe we'll go see the light show again where they have the Cajun Night Before Christmas with the alligators pulling Santa's sleigh. LOL it's awesome.

I'm really excited to be with family, and of coarse can't wait for the food. :main_yes: But thats it. I'm not putting up a tree this year, or lights. I told everyone not to buy me gifts cause no ones getting one from me. It's not that I'm in a hummbug mood, money is just to tight right now. Maybe since a lot of us might be feeling this way we can all pull together this spring and do a secret easter bunny thing.:main_laugh:

Emily, that is so cool! When my kids were young, The Cajun Night Before Christmas was our traditional story we read every year! I love that story!
Took me a full year to learn how to read it!:D

Rick, I think thats a great idea. Christmas just seems so overly intimidating, you know? Betcha theres alot of us that could get into a secret easter bunny or sneaky leprachaun project! :main_thumbsup:

Here's a slighty different take on things --Christmas isn't an issue for me since I'm a religious Jew and I usually spend the holiday season saying over and over again "Hanukah is a minor holiday". But this year I'll be in Israel for Hanukah where everyone is going to be celebrating (not with the intensity of Christmas; it really is a minor holiday). It should be really fun. I hope things work out for those of you who do celebrate Christmas, and that there's a way to find closeness and togetherness in an economy that is taking some of the emphasis off the gift giving this year.
