what is considered the "late breeding season"? is it right through the middle of the year (june/july)? i have a female that will be approx. one year old (and i want to breed her at the age of one year) middle of next year and i don't want to miss the opportunity to breed her next year. are there any downsides to breeding "out of season"? please straighten me out cos i might be misinformed about this whole breeding season thing. thanks.

"Breeding season" for geckos is whenever the female geckos ovulate. In this hemisphere, many of them seem to ovulate between about Jan-Sept but there are exceptions. Check the forums to see pictures of ovulation and then just let her try when she is ready. I usually pair up my geckos in Jan. but in the past I've had young females that weren't ready till mid to late summer. When I saw they were ovulating I put them with a male. Half of them did produce 3-4 babies late in the season and the other half weren't receptive to the male but did produce the following year.
