I was going to use paper towels in my lay box, but I have a rather large bag of perlite that I'm going to be using as an incubation medium. Could I use that in my lay box, too, instead of the paper towels?

If I do use paper towels, should I shred them first so my leos can "dig" or should I just fold them?

I think they really prefer to dig. I don't know about either shredded paper towels or perlite. Personally I use coco fiber, but I imagine if we can incubate in perlite, they may as well lay in it (as long as they don't eat it).

That's what i was thinking

Someone said she might eat it because it's white like calcium but I highly doubt she would. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't want to hurt my girl, but I think they sniff calcium out, right? They don't just eat every white thing they can find..

well what i use is something called vemiculite. I'd use that for the incubation and lay box mediums but it's whatever your comfortable with!
