hi, just wondering if a leo and a fat tail can co-exsist in the same tank? it is a 20 gal ( 2' x 1')

They wont die immediately from it but its not the ideal situation.

Afts require humidity that could lead to respiratory infections in Leos... and the lack of humidity causes shedding problems for Afts (Leos too) so its best to keep them in their own properly maintained enclosures even if temps are similar.

ok. i have a 20 gal ( 2ft x1ft) with rzilla jungle mix in it( douglas fir and peat moss) is this better suited for leos or fattails? my local store has both in stock, both juvies and sub adults, which is my tank better suited for?

I suggest putting some plants in there (haworthia, jade, maybe an african violet) and getting a fat tail.

One might be male and the other female. Then you'd need two tanks.

i have another 10 gal available right now. I have many fish tanks right now and i am thinking about downsizing my fish and getting into reptiles. I have always liked geckos so that is what i am most interested into starting with. my largest tank is a 46 gal bow front, and maybe later down the road that tank my come into play. but just saying, is it possible top house more than one aft in a 20 gal tank if both female? worse comes to worse they could be spilt up

I would just get one for the time being.

Nigel put it very well.
You might want to go to a reptile show and talk to a breeder before you make your decision. It is also IMO better to buy an animal directly from a breeder.
I know that it is difficult to wait when you are excited about a new pet, but you will get better information from a breeder than you will from a pet store, a healthy gecko, and probably a better price.
Don't get me wrong pet stores are a great place to get a lot of stuff you will need for your new gecko, but IMO not a great place to get your new gecko.

http://www.albertabredgeckos.com/ Located in Alberta, obviously, but they have some good links which are conviently arranged by province.

Hope this helps.
