I received a new LEO a few months ago. i had the vet check her out, everything was good so i housed her with my other female. They didnt get along at first and my new leo started dropping weight and not eating. I removed her and put her in her own tank. since then she has not eaten either. I fugured maybe because i took her out of a 40 gal and into a 10 gal that she hasnt eaten. So i bought her a 66 quart tub. I put heat pads on the tub and a ceramic heat bulb to bring up the air temp as well....still no eating. When I hold her she acts very healthy and perfectly fine. Bottom line is she has not eaten in a couple of months. I dont know what to do. I have tried everything even switching the food source but nothing. She MAY have eaten about 2 worms in the last couple of months.

I do not know what to do from here. I have done everything I know to do.

i believe she was hatched in july last year. The air temps are low 80's on warm side.

The floor temps must be 94-96F on the warm side. The air temp doesn't play a role at all. The probe of your thermometer should be stuck to the ground over your UTH with scotch tape, so you can measure the floor temp :main_yes:

Hi there. I'm going to ask a few questions regarding the leopard so I can better understand your situation.
How old is she?
What is her weight?
Have you asked the person you purchased her from if they used a particular dusting powder?
Have you asked the person you purchased her from if she goes 'off feed' at all?

The reason I ask is that I purchased a female from a breeder. She was hatched in 09', and when I received her it was late September. She weighed in at approx 61 grams. I quarantined her to make sure she was well. No issues there. The only concern I had was her lack of eating. Since I've had her she has taken crickets a few times as well as meal worms, but not as much as I normally expect from a hungry leopard. In asking the breeder, she had a history of going 'off feed'. Additionally, because of the change in season it could be brumation. To help with my concern, I weigh her every couple of weeks to ensure she isn't dropping weight rapidly. Otherwise, I just leave her be, (except to offer her feeds as I feed the others) and make sure her meal worm dish is full.

I hope this helps. Some more info from you would certainly go a long way in others helping assess your leopard's state of being.

Excellent. And with regards to the dusting powder, I forgot to finish my statement. I've found that one of my leopards refused the Repashy powder at first. In talking with the breeder, he used another brand. To get her switched over, I mixed the Repashy and other powders at first until I had her weaned to the Repashy.

Same exact thing with rango but he got over it pretty quick.

Is she losing weight? Or is she getting thin to your eye? If not, its probably nothing much to worry; perhaps she sensed its winter and went into slow down mode? Just make sure you give her hides and a temperature gradient (from 70s to 90s), she'll regulate her own needs.

ok thanks peeps....i dont know if she is actually losing weight, she just looks thinner to my eye. I need a scale. I have sort of ruled this brumation as of now. =[ My other leo is doing great though. She eats 3-5 silkies a day. She attacks those suckers too =]
