Well it was a little too go to be true lol. I stay up late for a reason and this is it. His temps are hitting and staying at 96.4 degrees this is with the probe under his hide in the middle with him laying in it. I am gonna add a little more play sand under the tile to see if I can lower it a bit.
I'm gonna wait and give it about another half hour and see what his temps do. If they go up or stay at this temp I'm gonna add more sand, nit alot just a little. I was right on the money temp wise too lol. Too good to be true, I'll take care of the little guy hopefully I won't be up past 5 am today.
I have read that they will stay in a area even if it's too hot and if they have a cool hide to use. I have seen him wake up and go in the cool hide before he did it last night but he is sound asleep right now in his hide.
Oh I do have a question tho. Earlier when i was messing with his tiles I had him in a sterilite 16qt tub to stay in til i finished. He was going crazy trying to get out. I got his temps to where i thought was good so I sat down and picked him up to hold him. All he wanted was to explore the living room. He wouldn't stay still at all.
The ole lady doesn't want him on the couch lol so i don't let him plus he would get his toes stuck on the cushions so I put him back in his tank. He wondered around pushed his cool hide all over the tank. I think he was mad.
So when your Leo wants out do they stay still or try to roam everywhere? I can tell when he want out because he will stare at me and try to climb the glass in his tank. When he does this I simply put my hand down in his tank and he walks right in my hand. As soon as I sit down he wants to venture off tho.
Oh i did see him drink out his water bowl and eat a little calcium today tho. Speak of the devil he is awake and climbing the sides of his tank staring at me again. When he did this earlier i tried to offer him food but he refused. He ate Thursday I believe so he should be hungry tomorrow. He may not eat tomorrow tho with all the changes i have been doing plus i fed him superworms and a large cricket compared to his old owner feeding him small mealworms about 6 every 2 days.
I just checked something real quick. His uth has hot spots like certain areas get hotter then others. I moved his hide and probe over one tile still over the uth and temp went from 96.6 to 93.4 I'm gonna wait a hour and see how his temps are, if they stay the same or from 90-95 I will know to leave his hot hide on that one tile instead of the other. This is tiring. I'm wore out but i gotta stay up and make sure he is fine.
Not enough hours in the day to do what I need to do..
It's usually warmer *under* the hot hide because it traps the heat.
My leo does like to roam around, especially on very hot days, so I let him on the floor and make a ring with my legs so he can't get away easily. If he wanders too far, I pick him up and move him back. Eventually he calms down and rests somewhere near me.
I think i got it now. When I went to bed at 5am temp was 94 I got up today at 11 and temp was 93.4 I think this is it cool temp is 75.4 so i now have a better heat gradient in the tank with this tile.
So far so good I will see how it is all day today. I think this is it tho, well at least i hope so. The sleepless nights are all my own fault I started his tile way too late in the evening. It all good lol.
He hasn't ate since thursday so I will try again today. It's the 3rd day since he ate so he should be getting hungry. I saw him eat some calcium out the bowl yesterday, he had a superworm in the bowl but he didn't touch it.
