Hello people,

My leopard gecko came to me (I adopted him from a family) this way (see pics underneath):

Now, they told me that they bought him like that from the store (he is 8-10 months old) and they don't know why it happened (they bought him 3 months ago).

Do you know why it may be like this? Since so much time has passed, it won't grow back, will it? Some people suggested that I "make"all his tail drop and a new, full one will grow. I am not sure this is right though.

Thanks in advance

The leopard gecko lost part of its tail when it was young, at the pet store. It grew back the way you see it. It won't grow back any better if you remove it. I have a gecko I got 9 years ago from a pet store with a tail that looked (and continues to look) very similar.

Dude. Don't make it drop it's tail! That is VERY stressful for your gecko and could cause infections and stuff. The tail will never look the same again, get over it and just enjoy your gecko.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ozy. If he drops his tail it may grow back like that or maybe even stranger. It will never look like tails do before they drop so just love him the way he is and save him the stress and risk of losing his tail a second time.

first of all I want to state that it doesn't bother me and as I wrote I didn't agree with making him drop his tail. i just wanted info and thanks for it.

Now, in order not to start a new thread.... I fed him only worms since I got him (almost a month) and yesterday and today I tried crickets. He won't even touch them. I feed him outside his tank (with crickets only) so as not to mess up the tank. any ideas?

He looks like a healthy guy. My guess would be that he's just not hungry. Give him a couple days and try again. I only feed my adult Leo's twice a week. Any more often than that and i find that they ignore all but the yummiest food.

guys, do geckos have facial expressions? I swear one time he looks at me like he wants to bite me and once like smiling and being kind!
