I just lost my pretty RWPA female, Leslie. She took her last breath while I was holding her. She was expecting her first clutch of the season, and I noticed she was laying outside her laybox with her head propped up on her water bowl. When I picked her up to look at her tummy, her entire abdomen was full of blood... even swirling around her eggs. I knew there was nothing I could do for her when she started gasping as I held her. I was going to put her in a ziplock bag and place her in the refrigerator to end her suffering, but she died in my hands while I was saying good-bye to her. She was so beautiful...

Thank you all. I just wanted to share something very special that a friend just sent me on Facebook...

Oh Marcia...it never gets any easier. These precious little gems, the joys of finding beauty in the uncommon places that most people miss...I think sometimes it makes their passing that much harder because most folks can't identify. I have heard "whoa, it's just a snake" more times than I'd care to recall, and have to bite my tongue to keep from lashing out at those who don't understand that what they consider "just a snake" was really my little "smooshface baby noodle" that I raised up from a shoestring into a big fine python!

Yeah. It sucks. But God gives these creatures to those whom He knows will truly appreciate them, whether to care for them in life or remember them fondly upon passing. In the grandest scheme of things, how blessed & lucky are we?!?!!? Wow!!!!!

In the mean time though, please know that I am keeping you close in my prayers. I hope the days ahead are that much brighter for you.
