ok so most of you know that i have handed over the sick leos i acquired to a rescue shelter... I just had tile installed in my 40 breeder for my new healthy leo, and bleached every hide and food/water bowl that was in contact with the other leos, then ran them all through the dishwasher. everything is dry and in place =] silkworms should be here tomorrow. So i hope i am on the path to a new/correct start with my leos...I am looking to get another leo in January, but until then i am ready to learn as much as i can about them =]

I will post pics this afternoon

am i missing anything?

I haven't read your other post but if you had a gecko with crypto or even an a lethal bacteria I would discard of all food/water bowls, hides, and anything else that gecko touched. Bleach will not kill crypto. You could possibly still be exposing the new gecko to the same junk the other gecko was carrying.

I wouldn't take a chance, get rid of everything contaminated and get new, and good luck with your new gecko.

They were sick but you don't know what it was? What procedures or methods did the rescue use to determine that there was no disease and/or parasites?

I'm just trying to help here. The worst thing that could happen is that you put another gecko in a contaminated environment and it ends up dieing also.

You have been given excellent advice by a well experienced breeder. If you choose not to listen to him, you are indeed putting your future geckos at risk.

One thing i'd like to mention: In the future, it's probably not a great idea to put reptile dishes and cage furnature in the same dishwasher that you wash your dishes you eat and cook with.

It doesn't matter if you put them in a separate load. Your dishwasher is now contaminated with whatever was on the reptile stuff.

Wash stuff for reptiles by hand, with a separate sponge, preferably in a separate sink. Personally, I dedicated a separate sink in my house for my reptile stuff. Only food stuff should be allowed in the kitchen/dishwasher.

I could have swore some one here (either PM's or in a thread) told me to use a bleach solution to clean everything with... ok Ii bought new hides and everything last night new food dishes and everything....even cut another piece of my wifes finest china to make another moist hide....

I am not sure what method of tests the rscue ran, i just know what they reported back to me.

is there ANYTHING else i am missing or not doing right o far that i need to take care of?
