Lifespans

I'm debating on getting a second gecko, I have a house gecko at the moment. I will of course put him/her in their own enclosure with the proper accommodations.

I'm kind of torn between a crested gecko and a leopard gecko, I cannot seem to make up my mind. I've been noticing that the leopard has an estimated lifespan of 20 years, while the crested is 8-10 years. It seems odd to me that the two gecko species would have such a huge variance in their respective lifespans.

I was wondering, are these lifespans correct? Is it possible that a properly cared for crested could live as long as a leopard?

Crested geckos can live much longer than 10 years, but since they are a "newer" reptile it is still an estimation.
Most ranges are average lifespans, some living much shorter or longer than 20 years.

What ever one you pick, expect to have them for over 10 years.

That's great to hear. I just wish my cats and beardie could live that long :(

I've been watching youtube videos, aside from reading, and both seem really docile, and both are very lovely. I can't seem to find a tipping point to sway me towards one breed or the other. If I had another enclosure to spare, I'd get one of each.

Your cat should live 20 years.

Selling features of cresties are they are easy to feed. No bugs needed. But they need to stay cooler in the summer months, so an A/C unit is a must.

Only had one cat that lived to be 20+, the rest 15ish. I have 11 cats now, hopefully they'll reach her age of around 22. She was a tough one, we called her Pussycat (that's all she'd answer too), and Pussycat told you what to do and when to do it.

Had her since I was about 1 year old. We had several more over the years, one started having seizures, and despite all we could do, no medicine or treatments saved her, she wasted away at about 7 years old. Another had heart failure at 10, another lived to 14 and passed away.

We have one that's 14, some that are 10, most are 5 and under.

Yea I saw a cute video of a crested gecko eating that crested gecko diet stuff.
