Lightning is still sick UPDATE 6/30/10 He died

We have been to the vet several times. Had a poo tested. Came back normal. He has been on antibiotics and is on a calcium supplement. He is still not eating and just lays around. He is losing weight. Temps and humidity is good. He is on carpet. His tail is getting so thin... :(

any more ideas?

Humidity is not a must for leos. They need humidity only in their cool hide.Their floor temperature has to be 95 degrees for them to digest their food and kickstart their appetite.Going by the pic he does not look overly thin. What made u go to the vet just out of curiousity. How long has he stopped eating? How much weight has he lost??

oh..I am attempting to feed him..but he won't eat. I have food from the vet..but he won't touch it. I can get him to eat a little bit of Appetite stimulent.

his tail was 2x that size when he got sick. He has been sick for 4 months or so. His appetite disappeared and he is keeping his eyes closed all the time. He is obviously in pain. There is no infection in his eyes. We checked. I am familiar with eye infections because our other gecko had one.

his stomach isn't thin..but the tail is. I am not sure exactly how much weight he has lost but it is a lot.

I think we posted at the same time

he was 2oz(maybe a little more) before he got sick..I will have to weigh him again to see for sure how much he has lost.... trying to remember.

He is 1 3/4oz now.

So he is 56 grms. You need to buy a scale and keep track of his weight. The floor temp on the warm end has got to be 95 degrees. What is the floor temp now

You asked how much weight he has lost... am trying to answer that.

The floor temp is 96.

He moves around a little but mostly just lays around on the warm side. Occasionally he will try and wedge himself behind his cave which is on the cool side of the tank.

He is on carpet. He has a hide on both sides of the tank. plus a log on the middle of the tank. A water dish. He has a calcium dish. I have an uth on the warm side along with red lamp, which isn't on right now because it is too warm..so it isn't needed right now. His hides are a cave and a tupperware dish. Both have papertowels in them. He doesn't like moss. The uth is running high right now but have gotten that under control. We have had him for 9 months. I think he is about a 1yo. He got sick in about Oct/Nov.

The vet has him on liquid calcium. The food is Oxbow Hay Company Carnivore Care. He has eaten a little bit of it but not a lot. So I am currently using JumpStart Caloric Supplement and Appetite Stimulant.

The temp is 98 on the floor and says 74-80 in the air above him... cool side is 70. Humidity is 35.

Hmm your setup sounds ok.So u took him to the vet and his fecal is negative. Its coincidental that he stopped eating at the start of Fall. You realize that leos go through a brumation process during the winter months. They basically dont eat during the cold months.Even though their warm end is warm there is something internal in them that tells them there is a change in seasons.Once it hits spring they start there regular eating pattern.I really dont think there is a problem besides your leo brumating

Have u changed anything in his tank? Moved some items or anything else? If u go to the section you've been using The "Health and Medication" section at the top you will see a post called " Gecko Soup" try giving your leo that

The tank was moved last week because it was near a heater vent and I thought that might be causing issue's but before that nothing was changed. Everything is in the same place..

We have 5 leo's. Yes they do slow down in the winter... non of my other ones have completely quit eating.

We use mealworms...

We have two male leo's and 3 females. I have two females in one cage but the rest have their own cages.

yes he is in his own cage. He hasn't eaten any mealies in weeks. When I try to feed him he just walk the other direction. If l leave them in his cage they remain in the dish untouched. He ate 9 mealies in the week after the first vet visit but nothing since then..other than the formula I am trying to give him which he doesn't really eat either.

I don't know how to calculate the different measurements so not sure that I can confirm it. My kitchen scale is in oz.
