Greetings,
I wanted to make sure I my list is complete of things I need. I'm using a 10 gal tank for now until I can get a larger tank in the future. I'm also wandering if the UTH is enough to get the tank at temps if my room temp is 60-64.

1. 10 Gal UTH

2. Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat

3. Reptile Carpet , will switch to slate in the future

4. Calcium , Calcium +d3 , and vitamins

5. 3 Hideaways: Hot, Cold , Humid

6. Temp gun and Digital Thermometers

7. Food and water , calcium dish.

Thanks for all the info and insight.

You are looking pretty good. As for the vitamins to make it easier I would just get the calcium without D3, and than instead of the Clacium w/ d3 I would get Repashy Leopard Gecko Calcium Plus which contains pretty much everything you need and can use it every day on every feeder. As for the UTH yeah they are pretty powerful actually, they definitely need a thermostat because without it they can reach well over 100 degrees. I had mine above 110 without a thermostat so be careful.

Also just to add the Hydrofarm thermostat is great for the price. I just switched to it and it has made my life so much easier, it is definitely a set it and forget it thermostat for the most part. I also have the zilla which I am using on my two new baby enclosures and that one I have to really monitor because it can really fluctuate. I have another Hydrofarm on the way in the mail so good choice. I can definitely tell you did your research.

I just switched to the hydrofarm thermostat as well and it truly is a lot more stable than the zilla thermostats.

Another quick question the UTH diagram on the instructions has it going longways into the tank . Is that the right way to do it. It would make it just under half way across my tank. Its the 10 gal UTH under a standard 10 gal tank. Just want to make sure I'm doing it right. thanks again.

The UTH should cover 1/2 to 1/3 of the bottom of the tank to allow for a proper temp gradient. And make sure there's a gap under there to prevent from a buildup of heat that could crack the glass.

Don't mind the strip thermometer its coming off , I stuck it in there to see what the temp was atm with out any heating, waiting on my digital thermometers to come , also ordered my thermostat for my UTH.

I'd suggest turning it the other way so that the heat is more localised on the one side and will hopefully allow the cool side to be as cool as possible in a 10 gallon. Also, it should have come with some little rubbery things to stick to the bottom of the tank to allow for a gap. Make sure you use those.

Judging by your first post, you'll be getting other hides and the digital thermometers and get rid of the strip one, right? Just to double check.

EDIT: Just saw the last post.

That would be my suggestion. That way the cooler side can stay as cool as possible. You could probably get a smaller hide too. From what I can tell, it looks like it'll be larger than necessary for even an adult leo, and reptiles feel more secure in smaller hides. Not that it's a big deal. Just thought it might be easier to allow you to also fit in water dish, calcium dish, humid hide, and cool hide.

I took out the large cave , I bought a log im going to use at the hot side , and I'm thinking of getting coconut halves to use as the cool hide with a Tupperware container as my moist box

So my UTH is heating the hot hide to 90 with the thermostat and my air temps on the cool side are currently at 75 , not sure if I should get a ceramic heater to warm it up a bit or not. Suggestions ? Thanks again for all the help !

sorry to keep bothering everyone , but I have another question. With the new thermostate that I ordered for the ceramic bulb should I place its probe on the hotside and halfway up the tank ? Thanks again !
