Here is my little female enigma.
Born: 3/18/08
Weight: 40g
7" long from nose to tail
I got her in mid February and she was 35g, so she has grown a little.
She doesnt eat a lot, but she is definitely eating and pooping fine.
She is just not a ravenous eater.

50g. is the minimum size to breed

Who made this minimum weight up??? Some leos will never reach those weights...
There is nothing wrong with breeding a 40 gram female as long as it has a good overall body condition...

I have bred many female leos in the 40 to 45 gram range with no issues at all...

With that being said, I feel the leo pictured, although in great shape, it is not in prime breeding condition as of yet... Plus the fact that it is not a great eater, would keep me from breeding it at this point... The stresses of breeding and being gravid may make its eating habbits even worse...

Some Leos are smaller than others so a few won't ever make it to 60g. But....you have to use your best judgement. It's possibility that she could quit eating while she's laying and lose a lot of weight regardless of what the scale says. Does she have enough extra weight to lose? Plenty of geckos are still growing well after a year old. We rarely breed any of our geckos before 1 and a half years old but that's just what we're comfortable with. Rather than going by a set number or age you just have to decide what's the right for the gecko.

I know she isnt ready now, I was trying to decide if she will ever be breedable. My thoughts have been pretty much the same as all of you guys. I was just curious what you guys thought.

Thanks all for your responses. :)
