I just hatched out this baby, Dad is a Mack Snow, Mom is a Female Tang Bell. I am finding it hard to tell if it is a Mack, it has a light tint of yellow. What do you all think? I hope it's a Mack, it will be my first (Of many) Mack het Bells :main_thumbsup:

The clutchmate hatched, and that one is definitely a Mack Snow, solid B & W, no yellow tint. So, I guess the first one is the Non-Mack. Although, it is very close in color to the Mack Clutchmate.

The definite Mack is on the right, the first hatchling is on the left. You can see the one on the left has a slight yellow tint and the one on the right doesn't. It is kind of scary how easy that would have been to mistake the normal for the Mack.

I'm thinking you got a two-fer. I see a slight yellow tinge to both of them; though, one is whiter than the other. Jeremy and I were talking about how the co-doms are getting harder and harder to tell that they ARE co-doms, especially at an older age, as a result of all the outcrossing. Maybe we're just seeing further results of this process? Perhaps the only safe way to tell is to grow it up and see what it produces.

I hope you are right Jeremy! That would be cool, especially is they turn out to be 1.1 :)

Shanti, the one on the right has no yrllow at all, it may be the reflection of the paper towel you are seeing, he/she is pure B&W.

Here are some closer pictures,

Yes, I did have a slow start. Out of 8 Mack x SHTCT eggs, I only got 2 Macks, and both turned out to be Male. I hope I get some females for this Mack x Bell project!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Michael! I wish you many Macks!

Call me crazy but the last pic side by side the one on the left has yellow back legs, I have never hatched a mack here with yellow back legs. They are both awsome but I would not jump to say the one is a mack. Now his is one opinion im sure some people have hatched mack like that but even the yellow mack when grown up here have been pure white as hatchlings. Im not saying they arent both macks but the one definelty has some room to be tested before being 100% sure.

You know what, I didn't even notice that! I was talking to Kelli about it, and she thinks it may be one of the Co-Dom Pastels that people say are coming out of the Macks. I am going to email Alex and see what he thinks. Not sure who else has hatched Pastels from the Macks.

That could be Jeanne. The Mack Pastel I hatched, who went green and is now going pastel yellow, hatched orange and black though.

On a side note, the first egg hatched from the clutch I was talking about. It's a Jungle/Stripe Mack Snow! I'm feeling lucky because so far the Macks I've hatched have been second to the 'sibs'. Hopefully I get that twofer!

If they were Pastels they would hatch a lot brighter than those. With a Mack, if I understand my co dom genetics properly, the non-macks born from a Mack Snow parent are pastels (some call them Mack siblings) and those hatchlings look like Mack Snows to me. Therefore, I suspect you have two Mack Snows het Bell. :)

If the mom was a tang bell I'm willing to bet that yellow tint is a result of that.

It could be that.

I sent the pictures to Alex Hue, hopefully he can shed some light on if it is a Mack Snow or Mack pastel.
