However before breeding when i took him out of his own cage, He was shedding. i took him out anyway and let him shed. He did but after i noticed he was licking His Hemipenes. And bit off some skin? the One side that is bothering him. it took him around a half hour of non stop biting. (Q: do they shed like that?) my male have yet to Place that one side of his Hemipen Back inside himself? He has stop licking and biting. Sometimes a hemipenis can prolapse --come out and not go back in-- and sometimes it just takes him awhile to re-pack. The most important thing is to keep it moist. Start with moist paper towels. If it hasn't gone back in after an hour or so, soak him in (believe it or not) karo syrup, a heavy sugar solution or put some preparation H on it. These things all reduce the swelling which is what's keeping it out. If it still doesn't go in, or if it starts looking black, he needs to see the vet.

I had a male who looked as if he had a prolapse after shedding. I put him on paper towels and went shopping with the intention of getting some preparation H. I forgot to get it, but when I got home from the shopping trip he was fine.
