I just picked up a Snow Enigma male het eclipse and tremper to go with my Fallenangel/geckogathering supersnow female. I didnt breed anything this year(new baby) so im hoping that I can get something out of them next year. This might be for a different section but has anyone had luck breeding this late in the season?

Thanks and enjoy!

Breeding this late in the year will greatly depend on the females receptiveness. There are a lot of geckos which you can get to ovulate this late in the year and have them produce multiple fertile clutches. Just make sure that she is ovulating and receptive and then let them do their business. If she takes she takes if not then "maybe next year".

Thanks, Im pretty sure shes not ovulating. Ive been trying her with another male for a month or so and she just tells him off. Ive been doing the "paper towel trick" with no luck. So im probably out for this year. Thanks for the info.

P.S. I like your quote

It definitely depends on the female. I just had a female start ovulating a few weeks ago and she laid her first eggs this morning. Most of mine ovulated earlier though. Good luck!

Both geckos are really nice, too!

Two beautiful geckos. Your super snow reminds me of my girl Snowflake. I was blessed my first year breeding and found out both my Super snow and my normal were both Het Tremper Albino and the super snow was also Het Patternless along with my Male Tremper Stud. 4 unknown Hets discovered woohoo!

Thanks I like her too. Last year my good friend HJ gave me "the pick of the litter" from his super snow hatchlings. He got her from an AWESOME 116g codom snow male (Jess at fallen angel) and a huge 95g codom snow female he produced. Their not giants but very big geckos. Congrats on finding the unknown hets. Good luck.

remember if you just got the male even though he looks very healthy, you still should quarantine him for at least 60 days.

I hear that a 30 day quarantine is the norm but I guess its better to be safe than sorry. Ive had him for about a week. The main problem is with my females. I have 2 that im interested in breeding. One is a two year old (virgin) Aptor het eclipse (82g) and the SS female (74g). Ive tried both of the females(Since April) with a nova male, a RERS, a Tremper Giant aptor het eclipse and a 115g tremper albino and they are not receptive. Ive tried the paper towel trick and a variant. I take the females out of their enclosures and then put males in, the males rub their "junk" all over the females cages leaving a scent trail. Nothing has worked. I dont really need to breed the snow enigma male to them this year but i would like to get something.(going for size and add tremper albino into the snow line) This is the first year in a while that i haven't had any hatchlings (minus the human kind) running around. Ive never bred large numbers but it would be nice to get a few this year. Maybe I waited too long.

i am waiting on six females, i do not think it is too late at all

Oh believe me, Im not giving up yet. I'll keep trying with the Giant aptor and give the Enigma some more time. Thanks for your comments. Keep your fingers crossed.:)

thanks, HJ from gecko gathering and I have been working on bigger geckos for the past few years. My Super snows mother came from a 130g Hypo Tangerine(the late Great CONAN). My SS female is only 8 or 9 months old and her clutchmate is bigger than she is. Cant wait to see how big they get.
