MBD and light?

I have a gecko were treating with mild MBD. he’s friendly but also a little shy. I’ve noticed for the past few weeks although he stays in his cave a lot at night, everyday when we turn the lights on he will lay directly in the light (sometimes covering his face but his body will always be in the light every single day). Nothing wrong with this, I just was wondering what this means/ why he changed? It was roughly around the same time we started really giving him more calcium/ D3.
Also, does this mean we should maybe get UV lights for him? He is albino so I worry about him not being able to handle it, but I know it can possibly help his MBD

If he's already lying in the light, it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a UVB light for him to lie under.
