meal worm question

today i found a pupa with the meal worms. i would just like to know, do i have to break up the oat meal. so that it is very fine or how big. how many beetles should i keep and let breed to feed only 3 leo geckos. thank you

powdering the oat meal makes it much easier to sift out the worms, beetles or pupae. Keep all the pupae you can because the beetles don't live that long. If you end up with too many mealworms you can always sell them on craigslist.

thanks for answering my question. how big does the container with the beetles have to be, im just planing on keeping a few.

I have kept a small number of beetles in one of those small kritter keepers, about 6"x4". Currently I keep my beetles in the medium one about 12"x6". The plastic covers provide good ventilation.

I use those plastic 3-drawer things from walmart to keep mine in. My husband put air holes in the sides and they work great. I have 18 draWERS ( 6 UNITS stacked 2 high) and they don't take up alot of room.
