Mealie Colony......and a Question

Well, I have two things I wanted to say in this post and one is a question. First off, my mealie colony seems to be doing really well. I have only had it going for about a week and a half and I already have 10 pupae and getting about 1-3 more pupae a day. :D I also have only found like 4 or 5 dead mealies in the colony (besides the ones eaten by my Leo of-course).
Now the question. Every once in a while I will find a mealie that has turned into a pupae in my Leo's mealie dish. I always get the pupae out and out it in the seperate container with all the others of-course. My question is it okay for her to eat the pupae just in-case I missed it and she did eat it. I'm usualy there but i.e. I just came back from my cousin and her husband's house for a couple of days and I just put her big mealie dish in there and put some extra mealies and when I came back she still didn't eat all of them so she had plenty of food but while I am gone she could've eaten a pupae if one turned into one. I'm not really worried or anything just curious.

Help would be appreciated and sorry for the long-winded post, thanks! :)

Yeah it is fine for them to eat pupae. With the mealworm shortage I had resorted to feeding them to my geckos and they seemed to love them! lol They wont touch the beetles tho...

Meal worm farm? Are you suppling to others? If so, you may want to add something to the thread about possible Meal Worm Problems....take care... Hj

just wanted to make sure you know as soon as you get beetles you'll need to put something like a Popsicle stick or piece of cardboard in with them plus you should separate the beetles from the mealworms so the mealworms dont eat the freshly laid eggs

well when raising a meal worm colony you need to provide them with the essentials....beetles need a place to lay eggs naturally they go for a dry local like wood so you put a piece of cardboard or Popsicle stick and they will lay eggs on it and as long as you have the beetles separated from the meal worms you will end up with new little meal worms in your beetle enclosure and then you have a successfully meal worm colony......i will have pics up in a couple minutes
