Mealworm sifting

I recently started using wheat bran but its still too big for the sifting screen I have. Ive tried a blender and food processor to attempt to break it down. The brand is still "flaky".

Does anyone know any type of mesh or screen that would work for this?

I was thinking of a flour grinder but will it make it "powdery" enough? If anyone has any imput, it would help greatly.

Also heres a Timberline tour video. There is a little part where it shows them sifting superworms but the mesh they use seems too big for mealworms. Heres the video.

Thanks

Consider getting oats and regular non-sweetened cereal and putting that in the blender. I think you'll get a finer powder.

I use a shoe box size platic tub with screen hot glued to the bottom of it. I found the small rolls of screen you get to cover your gutters on houses work the best (got mine from Lowes). I'm able to put my screen bottom tub inside of another one and this helps to keep dust down and collects very nice.

Ok, casings I just use an airhose to get rid of. As for the beetles, try this.

Sift everyone out and get rid of your bran or meal then set up what ever it is your using to sift and dump beetles and worms on the screen. Don’t shake anything or move anything and let them chill there for 10 minutes or so. The worms will crawl and fall through the screen while the beetles stay up top.

This works like a champ and the end result you should be left with a nice bowl of gecko eating goodness :main_thumbsup:

Thanks for the replys guys. I decided that I would just make one. I ordered the screening online since I can't seem to fine any screens big enough and or have the right hole size.

my problem is the mesh on my sifter is too small for mealies to go thru i'll try just moving it all outside and blowing it out for the casings and go from there thanks.. so now all i have to do is find a sifter that has holes big enough for the mealies but not beetles to go thru i have an old strainer that's plastic that has like 1/8" holes that might work but i dont know.
