mealworms are like french fries

ok so i went to my vet awhile ago because my gecko had an eye infection (which he fully recovered btw) and he asked me what i fed my gecko, and i told him mealworms. then the bet said that feeding mealworms as a staple diet is like giving humans french fries everyday. i have never heard this before and i am wondering if anyone else has heard a vet say this

Maybe he was thinking of waxworms. Lots of people use mealworms as a primary diet. Personally I think a lot of variety is the best way to go.

i know geckos that do fine of mealworms i feed them along side hoppers

Well, mealworms ahev some fat, but not alot. A few meal worms can't really make your leo gain weigh,, but, oh say, 35 can! That's why i feed all my leos alot of meal worms when it's feeding time. No, they are not bad for your leo at all.

My previous vet told me not to feed mealworm as well, he said they're too fattening. Crickets are a lot better. Then last year, when Lemzip is in hospital, I brought in some dubia nymphs to feed him, and the vet lady said they're too "hard-shelled" and I should switch their food back to crickets.
