mealworms for babies

I was just wondering if I could offer our little guy some mealworms. I thought the guy at the reptile shop said not to when they are young?Since we have him on Reti-Bark bedding I thought maybe mealies would be a little safer, in a dish, since their not running around.

meal worms are fine and it would be best if you got him off the loose substrate and onto tile, repti-carpet, or paper towels.

Mealworms come in different sizes so you could always try smaller ones

My hatchlings are fed only mealworms since they're so much easier for them to "catch". They thrive on them.

my baby leos eat mealworms for their main diet so your leo should be fine eating mealworms

I fully understand the risks with our bedding, hence me wanting to use meal worms in a dish. I don't want to change his environment around and try to screw with temps when he is trying to settle. Rest assured, his new tile has already been picked out at Home Deopt:main_thumbsup:

Thats good that you are already making plans to change to bedding. I agree that it is probably best to wait until it is settled in, and since your baby is little im not sure if it could even get the repti bark down. But the mealworms are def. a good idea, much easier especially if you breed them yourself. Wish mine would eat them, I did trick her into eating a superworm once though, LOL! :main_thumbsup:

So last night I decided to put an x-small tupperware lid in the tank and after I dusted two crickets I ripped all but one or two front legs off and put them in the lid. About ten minutes ago wifey and I saw him take one!!:main_thumbsup: This is so much better for him and easier to keep track of the crickets!!I hope he can keep this one down!:main_yes:
