Mealworms

I wanted to get some opinions on the topic of mealworms as a staple diet for any reptile in general. Do you think that any reptile fed on a staple diet of mealworms, if they are supplemented correctly, will be unhealthier then any gecko fed on another feeder such as crickets or roaches?

I feel that if a gecko is supplemented correctly will be healthy no matter which type of feeder you use. I don't know how many geckos I have that eat strictly mealworms that are completely healthy. I also find it a extremely exaggerated when I hear that mealworms can cause impaction in reptiles just as much as sand if not more. I have never had any issues where a gecko became impacted due to mealworms. I could see it happening but rarely if at all.

Any opinions are appreciated!

+1, of course not applying to waxworms, butterworms, etc...
My leos aren't picky. They eat anything that moves. But I believe that feeding one feeder with the right supplements is all you really need. If your leos are happy & healthy, then why change anything?

Personally have never had a problem with mealies cloggin up my geckos.

I believe an exclusive diet of mealworms is not as healthy as a diet of crickets or roaches. The reason is that mealworms have less protein and a lot more fat. However mealworms are much easier to deal with. I am hoping to get all of my leopard geckos switched over to a diet of roaches this fall.

All my geckos are fed about 99% mealworms. They are easy, don't smell or make noise like crickets, and when supplimented properly I have found that the leos do great with them (I can't say anything about other herps). On occasion I will offer crickets, pinkies, wax worms, super worms, and butter worms to breeding leos or ones I feel could use some bulking up.
