So a couple weeks ago i was diagnosed with high blood pressure, especially my diastolic pressure...no shocker there, it runs in my family bigtime & let's face it...i don't help matters w/my smoking and eating habits. Well, doc put me on a blood pressure medication, it's working but some of these side effects are annoying as hell. I get dizzy a lot, rapid heart-rate and heart palpitations all the time. It's driving me nuts, i can't stand feeling my heart pounding so much....feels like its going to explode. Doc says its normal but ugh, so uncomfortable. Sorry....just felt like having a health rant.

I feel your pain. They put my on new meds for my PTSD - to treat the depression and severe anxiety. Until I FINALLY got used to the meds, the side effects were worse than the actual condition. I, literally, almost killed myself in a moment of instability.

I get heart palpitations as well. Mostly due to when my hormones go outta whack for whatever reason. It can get quite persistant too. It's very unsettling, so I know what you mean. D:

I know ALL about medications and side effects...I've been through a LOT.

So you've talked to your doctor about how uncomfortable it's making you? With so many different medications on the market these days, there very well could be something better suited to YOU. There's only been one instance of me having to go off medication 100% because the side effects were not worth it.

I'm on a med for that too, yay for mental issues! It's called Pristiq or something like that...we'll see how it goes, haven't been on it for long.

Very unsettling, it's like you're heart is in overdrive.

Yeah, he wants me to take some time for me to adjust to it and see they don't lessen or go away. I have an appointment in a couple wks, if it doesn't improve i'll have him change it. Some things do well with me some don't.

good luck with them my friend. im on insulan insulan for the diabetes, and a constaint dose of anitbiotics because of MRSA. the antibiotics constaintly give me stomich problems, and the insuln screws with the hair folicals and causes ingrown hairs and those cause MRSA infections..... so yeah i feel your pain as far as side affects go.

Thanks bro, i sometimes question the benefits of half this crap....it seems like the side-effects outweigh the "cure" or whatever u wanna call it. My heart palpitations have subsided a lot, but now have been replaced with the worst heartburn i have ever felt before & severe chest pain on an almost constant basis. I think it's being caused by the Pristiq, if it doesn't stop soon i'm just gonna take myself off of it, totally not worth this.

make sure its ok to go cold turky off it bud. tell the doc that he cant keep making you take it and your getting off it so is it ok to just stop of if you need to be weened off it. i love all the depression commercials at the end it sais side effects may cause deeper depression, suicidal thoughts, and even suicide in some extream cases.

I take medication for my blood pressure as well. It took a week or so for my body to get used to it. What is the name of the medicine you are taking?

No worries, i emailed him (my doc is high tech lol) and asked what he thought. I'm going to see how long i can take it, today wasn't as bad and its supposed to take 6-8 weeks for my body to adapt to it, it just sucks cuz i'm on week 2 and can't fathom going much longer like this.

Oh and to the commercials, some of them crack me up. My personal favorite is for RLS (restless leg syndrome), "make cause increased sexual and gambling desires". I wish i could have been there for the studies on this when someone was like "You know, ever since i've been on this stuff all i've been wanting to do is go to Vegas, play some craps and get some hookers!" hahahaha

I've been on it now for a little over 3 weeks now, the palpitations are thankfully starting to subside. It's called Lisinopril.

Figured i would give an update, took myself off the anxiety meds on Saturday and what do you know?.....heartburn is COMPLETELY gone. It's as if i never had it in the first place, went out with my buddy and had some beers and a tasty bison burger and all was well. It's Tuesday now and i haven't had any real problems regarding that med at all. I noticed the rapid heartrate and palpitations from the bp meds as usual but after all that last week it doesn't seem so bad anymore. Still annoying but i can deal with that, just not feeling like my chest was going to explode lol.
