I'm not saying they're cheap, but a cordless drill is about $50 brand new and the holesaw blades are like $10 -$15. Then you can make all the hides you want.

Don't try to use a holesaw on the disposable thin plastic food containers though, it will just chew those up. I like the Rubbermaid "Durable" containers for hides/layboxes.
