So those of you who watch MMA, one of my favorite fighters was set to fight tonight...Fedor Emelianeko was going to fight Josh Barnett tonight on the "Affliction Trilogy"

Well, bonehead Josh Barnett goes and tests positive for steroids for the second time in his career and the entire thing is cancelled! WTH!! I was so psyched to watch this fight with a few friends & grab a couple drinks...looks like we'll be sticking to the drinks but no Fedor fights. :(

Man what a shame. I was looking foreward to this fight for 2 months And all because Josh is an idiot and knew he couldn't beat Fedor without chemical help...and even then he'd get his butt whooped.

Fedor still rocks.
I feel better now. :)

Can't wait until Fedor comes to UFC... I'm thinking if he does Dana will give him a few fights to build his rep up and then throw him in with Brock Lesnar, thats if he comes to UFC.

ME TOO! I heard that Dana won't give Fedor what he's asking for as far as money and fight lineups are concerned, and Fedor responded with an "(beep) you, Dana" so I didn't see that happening anytime soon, but maybe now that this has all happened, who knows, maybe they can kiss and make up sooner or later. I'd LOVE to see him with the UFC.

The UFC won't let Fedor fight without a contract and Fedor won't sign one because he's part owner of M-1. It's a huge conflict of interest. There's already bad blood with the UFC and M-1. Remember Randy Couture breaking his contract (aka "retiring") to go fight Fedor in M-1? I seriously doubt we'll ever see Fedor in the UFC. If M-1 dissolves I can only assume he'd go to Dream before he works anything out with the UFC. But that's just my speculation.

This article pretty much explains it all - M-1 COO: Report of six fight, $30 million offer from UFC “completely ludicrous”.

I still think it would be awesome to see Fedor wreck Lesnar in the UFC.

Why would Dana give up 50% of the UFC to these freaks at M-1. This is what M-1 does to try to get the m1 name out there. Screw fedor if he really wanted to fight he would make it happen. Dana has offered everything he can.

Well, we'll never know what Dana actually did offer. He said he "offered everything he could" in several interviews, but was never specific and therefore we don't know what actually transpired in the conversation. All we have to do is take Dana's word for it when he said he "tried his hardest"

Mel's right, Fedor is part owner of M1 and would have to give up the Affliction line and everything that comes with it for the rest of his career to fight for the UFC. The only thing he could wear would be UFC stuff. Fedor's said he doesn't want to be tied to one contract, and one contract only. That's one of the main reasons. Quoted from Mel's link to that article "Regardless of the money, Raimond reaffirmed that a major sticking point in the negotiations is the UFC’s insistence to sign Fedor as a UFC fighter with no connection to M-1."

On the other hand, the UFC is the UFC, one of the biggest MMA names out there...if not the biggest. And Fedor isn't getting any younger. Half the people that watch him watch to see if he'll be beaten for the first time, and the other half watch to see if he'll add another win to his record.

I can't think of one person besides maybe Brock Lesner with his stregnth or CroCop with his kicks to the head that could go the distance and possibly win against Fedor at this point. I honestly believe he would run through the entire heavyweight division of the UFC. But I didn't mean for this to turn into a debate...just make sure we all play nicely ;)

Ive been in MMA for over ten years now and some of the best fighters we will never see because of Dana. I understand everybody that are fans of the UFC and think Dana is doing the right thing. I guess I see it from a different view than just from reading it on the internet and in the news.

I agree with you Rob. Dana has lost some of the best fighters in the world. But I also think he and everyone else wants fedor fighting in the UFC. But if that means giving up some control why would he do that? Like I said if Fedor really wanted to fight in the UFC he would make it happen. All the other companies needed fedor to get the promotion off the ground and well that didnt workout to well. Ufc doesnt need fedor. IMO I would rather watch forrest and wandi fight all day long becuase they love what they do.

Remember when UFC first started when shamrock was in his prime. Those were the days that I loved watching UFC. I want those days back but Dana isn't going to let that happen because what he pays the fighters. He makes more than enough to pay everyone at least $50,000 a fight and of course the better you get the more you make and so on. He pays the fighters just starting out $6000-$7000, at times that can just pay the medical bills. This is the reason I dislike what Danas doing. If he up the pay you would so old school UFC come back because you would have a lot more fighters coming out.

Actually UFC covers the medical bills from fighting. I would love to see open weight classes like it use back in the day. But if they did that they wouldnt be licensed to have the fights and it wouldnt last. I remember when Tito had his back problems he said he was 100% percent going into the fight then at the press conference after he lost he said he hurt his back training for the fight. UFC did not cover this because he didnt tell them he was injured.

i would love to see anyone beat down lesnar.

As would I! He needs to be knocked down a peg or two. He has all the talent in the world he just needs to mature enough to catch up with his talent

even with not signing Fedor, hes got Tito again, which is going to be a HUGE moneymaker because everyone wants to see him lose.
