No, but I probably should have. I know my eggs died from unrelated issues, but they were so covered in mold it was horrible. Plus, my incubator came with the world's worst written instructions on how much water to put in the incubator and all of that. So I probably will look into it next time I have eggs.

I keep the eggs in covered deli cups. I just check the vermiculite often.

i have mine in little ziploc containers , i just make sure the water beads on the sides dont go higher than the level of the substrate ( tip from the breeder i got mine from) and keep covered and i haven't had any problems yet week and a half in incubator and they're just looking bigger every day :D

I put a humidity gauge inside one of my deli cups last season for a day or 2 because I was curious. It registered a consistent 80-90%. I use Albey's method with perlite and have not seen moisture drops at the surface nor had any problems with fertile eggs drying up.

50-65% in the incubator - and 80%+ in the deli cups. :main_yes:

imo a gauge helps a whole lot. I lost a few eggs in earlier this year - none since I threw the gauge in there. Whenever it gets below 50% I add water to the incubator. (not in the medium!) and I mist it a bit too. :main_yes:

I do in one container just to make sure its high enough. If I have any doubts I add water to the vermiculite/perlite. I would rather have water droplets on the lid then risk having an egg dry out.

The only fertile eggs I have lost were due to drying out. I have not lost one due to drowning. :)
