Gosh... Like 90% of the people that ANSWER the questions have no clue what the hell there talking about... or when someone answers and says but I am new to genetics/geckos so I could be wrong... example...

"What do I get when I breed a bell albino to a Tremper albino?"

Also hate threads about what do I get if i breed this to this... Is it that hard to google "How do genetics work?" <--- click... I use to answer these... Till I realized that I had to learn how this stuff works... WHY CANT YOU! (Anyone that is reading this and asks question like that. Ask away! I wont answer but, I wish you would learn.....................................................)

Back to the question...

Person asking: "What do I get when I breed a Bell albino to a Tremper albino?"
Person telling: "You will get Rainwater albinos Het. line bred snow. But I am new to Genetics so I could be wrong."

O.O

Don't answer... if your not 110% sure... Then don't answer!

I don't want to name the post that pushed me over the edge but, you know what forum it's in...

Drives me insane.... :rifle::rifle::rifle::rifle::rifle::hanged: :hanged: :hanged: :hanged: :hanged: :hanged: :behead: :behead:

Pick up a book folks! There's only about 5 million books about Mendellian Genetics out there, :main_laugh:

You know I really don't mind the questions, but I do understand what you're talking about with people answering when they only think they know the answers. Or the ones that when you answer the question they argue with you about the answer you gave. LOL I think these people are more hopeful that they will produce something better and are just trying to convince themselves of a better outcome. To these people I say go for it, you'll learn by seeing and doing as well as asking questions and reading books.

I will answer the "what do I get if I cross . . . " questions sometimes. When I'm in the mood, instead of just listing the outcomes I'll try to give some info so the poster can figure it out him/herself. The ones that drive me crazy is when someone has 8 females and 8 males and wants to know what s/he will get with each cross.

And when you give them a full blown answer, they decide to switch up 6 of the 8 pairings :main_rolleyes:

oooh, I'll be the first to admit:
Genetics confuses the crap out of me.
And I'm NOT stupid. I TRIED to read the genetics portion of "the book".
But it gave me tornado brain.

Hell, I cannot even remember half of the existing morphs out there.

Ohh, is genetic importent...I thought training your gecko to be a circusartist or fashionmodel was what is importent these days ;)

No, back to the thread...I am no genetic specialist eigther. I try to keep track on the geckos I breed, but when it comes to morphes I don´t work with, I must pick up a book.
Or ask someone I trust :)
I always advice my new gecko buyers to learn about the geckos they buy. That is the easiest way to start to understand some of the genetic.

But regardless of what the morph is you know what a het recessive X het recessive is going to produce.

I generally give them what all is poss. from pairing...no percentages lol...I really dont mind the RAPTOR, and co-dom questions. For some reason its the recessive questions that aggravate me..It seems sometimes it aggravates me worse than others depending on the pairing hahaha. Then again Im a weirdo.

That's what I usually do since there's no guarentee that the percentages is what they are really going to get and it just tends to confuse people that are new to genetics.

Check out the sticky at the top of the Morph & Genetics forum. Hopefully this will help explain to some. It's still work in progress, but it's a start. :main_thumbsup:
