i liked the selling of the offspring part the most
back then there wasn't so much competition, so i'd just call up petshops and they'd buy them right up. these days it's not that simple.
Thanks for the votes and the replies! For me, it's definately the first meal. Having raised various bird species for nearly 20 years, I don't get overly excited about eggs. My first year with the canaries, I had 15 eggs and zero hatch! A hatchling is exciting, but having two that took a long time to eat, is very nerve racking. I guess the next milestone will be to produce a second generation sometime in the future. Bob
My first group went a year without laying so I thought that that would be the end of it and I'd just have some neat pets for several more years because the lady I'd bought them from said they were 6 and 7 years old. I was excited about getting our eggs, a total of 14 now, but last week I woke up to one hatchling. A few hours later I stopped by my house after picking up my mom to head to town and say a little head peaking out of the other egg. We got to watch it finish hatching and it was the absolute neatest thing. So it was actually my second hatchling that was most special.
For me it was seeing the parent mate then finding the eggs then looking in the incubater and i just see a vibrant yellow area moving i was so happy, then watching it drink for the first time and eat and now im happy that im keeping it, the funny thing was this came from my skinnier females first clutch ever, the other egg died tho
