WOWZ, now i was just reading a thread on how substrate color effects skin color, when on light colored substrates like green repti carpet the leos were bright, on darker substrate they had those nice dark tones like yours, what substrate are you using.

Hello Dimidiata
Yeah I also read that somewhere. And I have noticed a difference.
The first 3 Leo’s in my pics and one other are in the same enclosure and I do have a dark substrate and background in their setup. The Patternless was a lot lighter and more of a pale yellow when I got him, but since he has got darker. I preferred it when he was lighter, but the others in that same setup are looking pretty good. All the others I have on a white substrate or white paper towel and I think they do seem lighter and brighter than the others.
So yeah man… interesting stuff. These creature really fascinate me!!!

Bells have pink eyes. Don't breed him to your albino female!(we don't want "muddy waters")Your female albino looks tremper.

Oh the substrate in that picture is corncob.
It came with an enclosure I bought… apparently not as bad for the little guys if they swallow some by accident.

Leos stomaches arnt made to digest high fiber foods like corn mulch, not to mention that stuff would create too much humidity if it got wet.

Actually it is, and your albino gecko looks skinny....

Thanks dude. Yeah that pic was taken the day I got him. He’s looking a lot healthier now and I don’t have him in that enclosure either, it was just temporary, I’ve got him in another enclosure with paper towel as substrate.
I have a feeling that setup I got was originally used to keep snakes.

I’m hoping my leos didn’t swallow too much of that stuff then. I do put their food in bowls which should prevent them accidently things they should… but yeah no guarantees I guess.
Thanks for the advice, and yeah that stuff did used to smell a bit funky as well. Anyway, I just use paper towel and newspaper as substrates these days.
