Your statements on pitts and having natural aggression, THATS where Im getting the ignorance from. I understand youre still pro-pitt but portions of your statement still add to the negative stigma.

So you're saying there is no - zip, zero, nada - dog aggression in any individual dog of any of the pit bull breeds ever in the history of the breed that wasn't at all hardwired in them due to over 150 years of breeding for one particular activity in some lines, like herding or hunting dogs and that nature plays zero role in this and it is 100% nurture?

The ONLY reason Rottweilers and Pits are categorized as such a "dangerous" breed (BS) is because of their size. I have NEVER EVER been bitten by a big dog. Pomeranians and chihuahuas, yes. I would rather walk up to a stranger/lost rottweiler or Pit than a little dog. Very true. I'll pretty happily go up to someone who's got a Pitt or Rottie, but if they have a little dog, I'm more wary. The only dog that ever attacked me was some weird hound mix. I was at the ER and there was a dog walking this big Pit, and I walked right up to him and the dog was just the sweetest thing ever.

Yes there are indivduals who are agrressive, but NOT because they are pittbulls. They are aggressive because of how to they were trained, socialized, life experiences, etc.
By what youre saying i that you can have a litter predisposed to aggression, and if one pup in the little is bad, then since they all share DNA, then they'll all be bad. Wrong. People blame their bad dog "parenting" on the dog.

Example! I delivered a litter of puppies. I agreed to adopt one, and my friend Amy agreed to adopt one. We took them home at 8 weeks old, and we both brought our dogs to work with us every day (we worked at the same clinic). The ONLY differences in our dogs lives were their home lives. Our dogs are drastically different. Mine listens, doesnt pull on the lead. Hers is a holy terror. Why? People her family werent consistant with this dogs training. She cant blame the breed, we have the same dog.

And unfortunatly, all those dogs are considered "pitt bull like dogs". All of them.

I adore pit bulls. They are great dogs, and usually wonderful with people. I've worked and lived with dogs all my life. I've also worked in dog rescue and animal shelters. But I will say that yes, a certain amount of animal aggression is a natural part of their makeup. They should always be great with people, but some animal aggression in a pit bull can be genetic. Not in every dog of course, but it is genetic. Go ahead and call me ignorant if you want. I really don't care. The fact is owners of pit bulls have to be more vigilant and take every precaution, because the reputation of the breed will suffer even more if you become careless and even one little episode occurs.

While I'm more of a big dog person than a little dog person, it annoys me to no end when people use this arguement to defend big dogs. I used to foster dogs and since my medium to large sized dog only likes little dogs that was what I had to foster. Not a one of them was aggressive. Not one ever bit me. They were all sweet and loving. In fact, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed little dogs. You don't want your dogs to have their "media image" and be labeled.....don't do it to the little dogs. And also, if you're allowed to irratinally be afraid of little dogs, you can't be insulted when people are irrationally afraid of your dog.

Lolwut. An entire litter of puppies won't have identical DNA.

It's interesting how you go with the 100% nurture theory and claim to have a degree in animal sciences, as that idea has been pretty universally rejected.

I think it's very, very rare that this occurs, but yes, I believe it does as well.

I remember one time I stopped at a house to ask if I could photograph their old farm equipment for my photography class, and I got out of the car and this big, scuzzy-looking Rottie came running up to me barking, and I had a mini heart attack. Not because I thought the dog was aggressive, but I know some dogs are protective of their territory and don't want random people walking on it. But he ended up being a giant sweetheart.

He was rude to me on a different thread, and then said I only "claimed" to have an education. That to me, is rude.

I'm a female. And yes, I said "claim" because I don't know for a fact that you have a degree. Unless you want me to stalk you and do full research into your entire life, which, frankly, doesn't appeal to me.
