Congrats on the nice baby! I know how it feels ...having hatch your first leo and worrying about it eating/surviving. I am very much in the same boat. I hatched my very first 2 leos last friday and I haven't seen them eat yet. I have mini mealies to offer, but it didn't help. I think im gonna follow your footsteps and start feeding liquid food. Thanks for the great idea!

Definitely try the slurry recipe Kenny. Since starting supplementing that, Nala has grown, and is going potty, so I know she's ok. I'm just going to do it long enough until I know she's big enough to eat the mealies on her own. I just know how devastated I would be if she didn't make it...I'll do anything at this point to help her through! Good luck with your two!

Lots of changes! I've been feeding her like crazy, she's always ravenous it seems. She's mowing down 8-10 crickets a night but will still not touch meal worms. I'm hoping that will change with age.

Her coloring is really starting to come out. Speckles are appearing in the white bands, and the black bands are fading a lot to a deep purple now. The yellow on her back is fading as well.

Here she is...3 weeks old. Is it just me, or is she really lanky? I've seen other pics of hatchlings, and she just looks super long to me.

Sorry guys, I'm sure you feel like you've seen one mack hatchling you've seen them all...this is just my first little one, so my excitement at every new little detail is overflowing. She is just the sweetest little thing, no longer runs from my hand at all, and lets me hold her for as long as I want :smitten: :sweetheart: I can't even imagine letting her go ever...I don't know how all the amazing breeders on here do it!!!

I agree!! Giant Snow, woo-hoo!!! She's looking GREAT :D :sweetheart:

Thanks Jess...it's really exciting to go in there, scoop her up, and be amazed at how much one shed changed her. I just wish she'd get some meat on those little bones...like I said, she's killing crickets like crazy every night. Last night was 10 of the medium size. I just wish meal worms were on her menu...then at least she'd have variety and maybe start fattening up a bit :main_rolleyes:

Hey, you could always supplement with some slurry too, to help her gain some weight :main_yes: I have been feeding super worms and slurry to our gecko Kratos (avatar) to help him gain some weight too :main_yes:

Well I do have a bunch in the freezer! lol. I wonder why in the heck she won't eat a meal worm though? I'm honestly thinking about starting a roach colony...from what I've heard they are great. No stink (cricket stench makes me gag almost lol) and they have a low death rate. I am definitely changing her name though...having a Lana, and now a Nala gets me all tongue tied :D Her new name is Chloe to stick with my Smallville obsession :)

I don't know why she won't eat a mealworm, some geckos can be really picky though. I have some geckos that were eating super worms and now they refuse to eat them, it's driving me crazy. Then I have a few others that prefer crickets, and some that absolutely love the super worms :main_rolleyes:

I haven't tried roaches myself, but our good friend Kenny uses them and he says they are great too :main_yes:

Some more update pics, and a video of Chloe (changed the name from Nala, was getting her confused with my "Lana" lol) getting her wax worm treat :) Her pattern and colors are changing so much week to week!
