We went to the Tampa show and I fell in love with the little cresties. I found one from a lady named Holly here in Florida who breeds them. She's very nice and informative. The one I got is about a month old and is a harley...not sure what else it would be called. :main_huh: It's a light redish yellow and I know for sure it's harley. I'm going to call it a she for now. lol. It's too young to be sexed. I have her in a 29 tall with a huge piece of drift wood, and tons of fake vines. She really seems to like it. I sprayed her and the tank with filtered water. I put a bowl of filtered water in with her and a small lid full of peach baby food mixed with T-rex crested gecko diet. I bought some smaller crickets for her too. Am I doing everything right? lol. How often should I dust her crickets and with what? How often should she get crickets? How often do I need to change her baby food? What's a good book to get? How long until sexual maturity? She seems very healthy and is pretty calm. She still has her tail *fingers crossed it stays on* and she is handleable. Holly says she handles them daily so they're ok with being touched. I will get a picture up when she settles a bit more. Then you can tell me what she is!

I'd avoid the baby food. It's fatty and has little to no nutritional value. I only give baby food mixed with CGD if I'm too lazy to go fill up my water bottle. Usually, they all just water + CGD.

Baby food will mold and harden after a day or two anyway. I always jsut change the CGD every other day. It prevents molding and whatnot.

I spray younger cresteds twice a day and older ones once.

You can usually tell around 6-9 months. But it varies sometimes. Males you'll definitely pick out quicker than females, but at the same times some males may drop late.

Here are 2 lenses I wrote about crested geckos on Squidoo. I prefer the books listed on them as the better ones.

well, the baby food has no fat in it. And it has no sugar added and is pretty much just fruit puree. I wil read the articles. Thanks!

When you handle them watch out, they love to jump! they are like little tree frogs. Just the other day one of mine ran up my arm and didnt stop until it got to my shoulder and then it just took a flying leap off of my body! I decided it was time to go back in the tank at that point.

lol! I know! They're crazy. You can tell when they're about to jump. They get that look. lol. Mine has jumped from one hand to the other. I don't hold her unless it's over the cage.

I think of baby food like this: Baby food has 0 nutritional value, CGD has lots of nutritional value. Why would you want to cut the nutritional value of CGD?

I give Ferrous a bit (we're talking one small slice) of banana mashed up in his CGD. He devours that like he hasn't eaten in months. I've read a bunch of places that they will be less likely to eat CGD if they are given the baby food alternatives. I guess it's like the wax worms for leos...gecko crack :) Your gecko, your choice. Read up & make your own decision.

Can't wait to see some pics! Be sure to include one of his cage. It sounds awesome. There are quite a few of us who have recently gotten our 1st crestie. So scan through the 1st 2 pages of the posts in this group & all your questions (most of...) will be answered.
