Hello,

I have two female and a male, it's been about 8days the mating period started, and i got a strange problem : They won't eat at all. So i'm starting to worry. I've of course made some research but didn't thing anyone reporting similar issue... I've read they should eat much more than usual during this period. The male, a good hunter, usually jump on anything, now he TOTALLY ignore ANYTHING i put in front of him.

Female #1 was hand fed since birth, normally when seeing my hand she start going crazy, now she just turns her head like saying "FORGET IT". And Female #2 (wild one, barely ever accepted hand feeding) mating only happened yesterday so i can't tell yet but she almost barely ate anything last week. I forgot to say, they all did their poop and it didn't seem wrong... I've gave them morio worm about 2-3 weeks ago, could it be that (being long to pass)?

Thanks!

Many males don't eat for awhile after "discovering" the females during mating season. Many females don't eat when ovulating or gravid. It's not unusual. I have a number of geckos who have barely eaten for quite awhile but remain fat and healthy. Just keep offering. These same geckos of mine will, in a month or so, be pacing back and forth during feeding time waiting for the food.

Ok so now I just gotta wait about 10days to see the eggs, right? I've put the male outside since it started to get too violent.

Also my smaller female got something on her face, probably wound from male bite? But strange color, not like blood. It's brownish.. I'll post a pic later.

About the future eggs, I won't use the incubator method. I'm going to put them into a vermiculite filled box and heat with pad. Any advice, let me know.

An incubator is recommended mostly to be able to maintain a constant temp with minimal fluctuation. If the temp are not stable, there can be development issues like deformities with the babies.

That's what you think. Here in Europe prefer the natural way. Currently testing and the vermiculite is up 30C° so I'm ready I guess.

Hovabator is a relatively cheap and reliable incubator people use for incubating leo eggs. I have a similar one made by Little Giant and it seems to be working great. Someday I'd like something a bit bigger so I can use the SIM containers for my eggs.

Its not really a natural way, theres nothing natural about breeding pets in captivity.
Often geckos will go off food for a period after breeding, it takes a lot out of them. Its important that geckos have extra weight on before they breed for these reasons.
What are the weights of your geckos? I like mine to be 60 grams +

Natural = closer way to what happens into the wild = day/night C° variation. One weight about 55g. The petite is about 45g. I couldn't make her fatter. I was hesitating but I've been told, by a trustable person, that it'll be ok.
