I'm so happy! I just got my new leo. He is a young male. He is supposed to be a mack snow stripe But his stripe isn't very pronounced like in other stripes notice his white sides. But he is definitely a mack snow. The light is a 100w red night bulb, the employee recommended 100w or 150w because i told him he will be in a 55 very soon. I also have a small heat pad beneath the coconut side. He is pretty active since its already nighttime here. Does anyone have an estimate on his age? And how long until you think he is ready to breed?

Here's a pic of him and my setup until i set up one of my 55 gallons.

Pretty gecko, looks to be a mack super snow. I use sphagnum moss in my moist hides and it works great. You could also use eco-earth or just some plain old paper towels.

That's a pretty Mack Super Snow; I'd say 5-6 months old, judging his size. Do you have a moist hide? You could put a lid under your white plastic hide and put moist paper towel in it, to ease his shedding. Otherwise, your cage looks very professional!

Approximately 5 month old Mack Super Snow. Very nice first leo!

PS You shouldnt use a 100 watt or 150 watt bulb on a small tank like that....he's going to ROAST! I know you said your going to be upgrading to a way larger tank, but until you do, you should be using bulbs that suit the set up you have.

Very pretty super snow!!! I always recommend heating from below, with a 10g tank you wont be able to have a quality warm and cool side. Check into returning the light and getting a low wattage heat pad. Plus it will save you a ton of cash in replacment bulbs and electricity cost.

Great looking Mack S.S.! :D

I wish there was one somewhere around here for my to buy.
The only exotic morphs around here for me is 1 juvenile female Blizzard, and a sub-adult Sun-Glo..... :(

There is no such thing as a Mack Super Snow. But what makes you guys say he is a super not a mack? If he was that would be great, all mack babies w/ a normal female :) . how can i tell for sure without breeding though?

LOL to tell people who have been breeding for years there is no such thing as a mack super snow...LOL. there are different terms. Mack snows have yellow to them, super snows dont. Super snows are white(ish) with black spots. Mack snows are yellow, black spots, and gray/white. This is a super snow bell albino stripe and this is a stripe mack snow. She doesnt have the cleanest but you can clearly tell shes a mack stripe.

So, what are you saying i really have? And i have seen that link before and it says that super snows are HOMOZYGOUS, so couldn't i just have a whiter mack snow? It also says that mack snows are Heterozygous snow genes, meaning that they are half super snow and half mack snow. Because the SS's are homozygous, this means that there is a small amount of variation in them. But because macks are heterozygous w/ INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE, they have a large margin of variation, so they can look alot like a super snow, a regular, or something in between. But, incomplete dominance means that they can also have full dominance w/ a either phenotype and look completely like a normal or a SS, depending on the strength of their SS and regular genes, and they would look totally like a regular, or a SS. However, these specimens would technically be a mack snow because they carry both the SS AND the regular genes in their genotype, therefore making them heterozygous.

I guess i'll have to see if he can produce some yellow babies. Im just a 15 year old and i know about genetics, but haven't really had much breeding experience, does anyone know if a mack snow that looks like a super snow is a regular occurrence?

Here's another great morph guide for you to paruse as well as the wiki link.

http://www.paulsagereptiles.com/LeopardGenetics.htm

"Mack Snow & Mack Super Snow are co-dominate morphs that reduce or eliminate the yellow and orange color seen on many Leopard Geckos. Mack Snows can be black and white, although some specimens show varying degrees of yellow after having been out-crossed. Mack Super Snows are characterized by their unique, high contrast black and white pattern and their solid black eyes. This pattern does not present itself on a hatchling Leopard Gecko, but usually develops within a month or so. Hatchling Super Snows are similar in appearance to blizzards. The Super form can be thought of as a recessive trait, since both parents must contribute a Mack Snow gene to produce Mack Super Snow offspring".

My Eros is a mack snow het bell het patternless. Here's his before and after pix.

This in NOT co-dominance. If it were co-dominance, all mack snows would have patches of super snow and patches of regular coloring. Mack snows have incomplete dominance because they show a blend of the two parents that is different from both parents, but resembles them both partially. Other than that detail, its another good guide for identifying your morph.

What this page calls a mack super snow, leopard gecko wiki calls a super snow.

they are consider co-dominate. Trust your elders;D Just like hypos that are co-dominate. There are chances babies come out that way. I have NEVER seen a mack snow look like a super snow. Not even TUGs, co-dominate snows, or anything. And TUGs are alot whiter then macks. They say mack super snows BECAUSE there are more then just that one strain of snow, ya know? TUGs, co-dominate, macks, f one i cant think of right now. Its easier to say mack super snow then have people message "is the super snow from this or this line?" Yours looks like a super snow, i can say 99.999999% chance its a super snow and will make macks.

Dog strink- Eros is looking great:D so cute.

very pretty super snow, but i agree with the other members about heat. i highly recommend belly heat as it aids in digestion. put it under your tank on one side, connect it to a thermostat, and put the probe directly on top of the substrate under your "warm" hide. place the moist hide on the cool side of the tank. like stated above, you can just put the lid on that white bowl and fill with damp orchid moss or moist paper towel. as far as tank size goes a ten gallon is perfectly fine for one adult leo. other than that, he sure is a studly little boy. congrats!
