My lovely girl, Louise, passed away last night. I am broken hearted and overwhelmed with grief and loss.

All of my geckos are special to me, and I love each and every one of them. But, there are always the ones that tug at my heartstrings more than others, and then there are a few that are SO precious to me.

Louise was my sweetheart... so beautiful, and gentle. Her pretty, feminine face and expressive eyes were first to look up at me whenever I came in to the room... wanting me to pick her up to be held. Now, I will only see her face in my memories.

Goodbye my sweet girl. I loved you so very much...

Thank you all for your kindness. I am so sad. I lost an entire day over grieving for Louise. NO ONE except those of you who keep and love their reptiles can understand the ache I have in my heart for my beautiful, gentle girl. I can't count the number of times I've heard, "Geeze, it's just a lizard!". Louise was more than that to me... and I appreciate knowing you can understand.

I've been thinking today, and wondering if other breeders go through this much agony when one of their geckos dies. I honestly don't think they do, or if so, they don't express it. It makes me wonder if I am cut out for this... breeding geckos. When I lose one of them, it rips me apart inside. Sometimes it would be so much easier if I saw my geckos as nothing more than inventory items... but I just can't.

Louise was a gift from Kelli and Robin back in early 2004. Just for that fact alone, she was a very special girl. Louise produced the BEST bold stripe I have ever produced, and I have that girl today... just layed her second clutch!

I have Louise's only clutch laid this year still incubating... an Enigma cross. Wouldn't it be a great legacy to her if one of them was an Enigma het bold stripe??? Or even the first Bold Stripe Enigma?

The truth is, none of that means as much as having Louise...

Here is Lynne... Louise's daughter (photos by Brittney):

Marcia I'm very sorry for your loss and I'm sure most uf not all of all us go through that empty feeling. I've been a big fan of yours since joining the gecko community and I continue to see why you're so respected here. Here's to many more happy days with all of your precious geckos and family members.
