Just to let you know that when using sand there is a risk of impaction, but other than that Sparky is pretty :D

She's very pretty, but you need another hide in your tank.

It's not the fact that sand is bad if they are bad hunters, but a lot of gecko's will eat it, especially if you don't have a calcium bowl.

Couple of things.. Everyone here is going to keep telling you - Say no to sand! It's just plain bad, trust us. Leopard geckos do not live on loose sand in their natural habitat and thus there's no reason they should be on it in captivity.

Secondly, you should provide her with a humid hide to ease her sheds. A moist hide can be any enclosed container such as a piece of Tupperware with a hole cut in it. Simply add paper towels or moss and keep moist.

And finally, I'm not sure if that is a heat rock but those are basically gecko-cookers. They are dangerous and can cause burns. :|

This is the main thing I wanted to point out as well. In a normal enclosure 1/3 should be heated, when using a hot rock, you offer only a small area of heat, and hot rocks often have hot spots that can burn your gecko. It might seem like common sense for your gecko to move if it’s getting burnt, but they don’t always do it!

Also, I disagree with using sand as well! There’s a lot of information out there on it, that you could read, a lot of it could be found just searching this forum.

I say get an UTH, and a thermostat, and remove the hot rock to make room for a moist hide! ;)

The question I think people always need to ask themselves when using incorrect husbandry methods, even after people tell them it’s incorrect, is “Is the cage looking nice and being easy to maintain, really worth the life of my gecko?”

The comment about the geckos tank size is not an issue for one gecko. I have 12 qt tubs for some of my gecko's and they have thrived for quite a few years so that 10 gallon tank is fine for a single gecko. But sand is very bad. Your gecko may go its whole live and be fine on it but is it really worth finding out? I would suggest in your tank useing tile, or a slab of tile it holds heat well I like useing Vynl tile in my only tank, But be sure to heat it first so it can release any chemicals. You can use newspaper, paper towles, or any type of paper will work, But tile would be my recomendation in the tank in my tubs I use a very good paper I get at the printing company I work for its very durable and it is also thin and works great its like whats used in phone books. But there are many things you can Use for a substrate. I would definately Recomend Ron Trempers book, It is a great read and it has all the info you need to keep you gecko safe and healthy. But do not take offense to any of the comments on hear its all in trying to help, we live and learn trial and error. So good luck, hope these suggetstions help,

Adam

What should I use inter of sand? And she's been on sand for three years. And I'm thinking about geting a bigger cage.

She is a very pretty gecko.

Everyone addressed my concerns about the enclosure so no need to repeat it.
Please ask questions if you need help with anything or aren't sure..

:)

PS. I'm curious to know what your using for heat?..

For heat I use a Heat Wave Lamp, Ceramic Heat Emitter. I sont really know what it is, but I know it work really well. Its 100W. So you think the cage is to small for 1 gecko?
