Need advice on "anger peeing"

Our schedules have changed recently. We were both working for home and here all the time. Now Keith has been working about 9am-9pm most days. Our 7 year old bulldog is having a hard time adjusting and he's started peeing on the furniture.

A couple of weeks ago he peed in my ivory leather chairs that he's not allowed to sit in while I was at the grocery store. Last night he jumped up on our bed at peed on it when we got home. So we had to wash all of the blankets and everything. This morning we were on our regular normal schedule: go outside, eat breakfast, go back outside. After breakfast he didn't want to go out. I finally coaxed him into the yard and then he bolted back into the house. I sat down to get on the computer and he jumped up on the couch next to me and started peeing!!! I told him to go outside and he went and laid in he new dog bed and just stared at me like he hadn't done anything.

We always have wee wee pads out and he's always been really good about using them. The only time he pees on things is when he's mad (usually if we're gone too long for his liking).

I'm going to bring his x pen inside and put his bed and wee wee pads in it so I can keep him on the tile while I run errands but I'm not sure what to do about our Chihuahua. He's really good and doesn't need to be penned or crated so I'm not sure if I should leave him out and just pen Tommy or pen them both together.

Anyone have any advice?

Okay me and my mom has gone around like this for many years lol so your not alone on that I hate to say it but if your chihuahua is being a good dog then I would not pen him up. Becuase he is not going to understand why he is in the pen so I would just pen up the other dog that is being bad. Me and my mom would do the samething if the good dog is not being bad then it does not get pen. :)

Thanks, Holly. Sorry you've had to deal with this too! It's not fun.

Yesterday we put Tommy in his pen with wee wee pads, his bed, and a toy. He peed on the pads and in his bed so we weren't surprised that he didn't pee outside when we went out. I opened the bedroom door to go get ready for bed and he peed in our bed while I was brushing my teeth. :( I had just bought new pillows and they're now in the wash. Luckily I hadn't thrown a couple of the old ones away so we had to sleep with one pillow each on throw blankets! Keith put him back in his pen for a few minutes and then took him back outside where he peed in the yard (finally). This morning he peed outside so I'm keeping my fingers crossed today. lol

My advice? Rule out a urinary tract infection before you're 100% sure it's behavioral. Sometimes it's not anger per- se, sometimes they're trying to tell you something. I would bring a urine sample to the vet.

Ya know what one of our dogs had that and so thats why it kept wanting to go outside. Good point.
