Hi,

Ive had my leopard gecko for a few weeks now and just want to make sure my tank is all set up correctly.

I have heat mat on half the bottom.
I use paper towl a substrate untill i get reptile carpet. but need loads of paper towlbecause it gets too hot on the floor. ( i have just put cardboard under the paper towl to stop it getting to hot)
Temps are air temp on cool side and around 35c on warm side.
Three hides 1 warm, 1 cool, and 1 moist ( is there a certant temp needed in moist hide)
water bowl, calcium dish etc..

does this sound ok? also heres a pic

Looks good, Not sure if there is a certain temp for moist hide but I always put on the warm side and has always worked well for me. Do you lower the temp during the evening?

I would recommend a probe termometre for your temps, the one you have isnt very accurate.

thanks for the reply's,
I do not lower the temp of an evening i was told not to if you have the heat mat on half its fine to keep it the same temp all day. Yep got all the supplements etc.. i will get a probe thermo today i have noticed the one i have can read 100f one hour then 93f the next, it keeps jumping and droping in temp also she hasnt been eating in the past week im a bit worried. She has however done a poo today so i know theres no impaction she used to be on wood chips but removed them because i was worried and im jsut worried the floor is too hot.

many thanks

It doesn't sound like you have a thermostat. It sounds like all you have is a heat pad and that's it. You need to get a thermostat that regulates the heat pad. You put the probe of the thermostat on the glass where the gecko will be hiding.. then plug the heat pad into the thermostat then set the temp to 93 or close and the leave it alone after that. The stores don't sell any heat pads with regulators on them.
