Hi guys

I'm new to the hobby. A friend of mine gave me an LG recently and it got me hooked up ever since. A few weeks later, I decided to buy a SHTCTb. It is 4 months old. I just got it 3 days ago.

I noticed that both rear legs are shaking whenever it walks. I didnt get to examine the lizard throughly during the time I was purchasing it. I only noticed it after I got home and after I transferred it to a more suitable enclosure.. I never thought it is serious. Then I did a quick research. It got me worried after reading some infos about it.

Aside from the shakey legs, everything else seems fine. It is eating well and it looks very alert.

I recorded a video of my LG. Here is the link. It's just 2.2mb. http://www.yousendit.com/download/dklyNnFONEhsamMwTVE9PQ

Here is another video, with him eating.

What do you guys recommend. I really like this SHTCTb. Should I get a refund or just keep him. If the shakeyness can easily be cured, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Did you put the new one in the same tank?
Because your suppose to quarantine just in case it is sick.
So if you new one had anything sickness it would have spread to your other gecko.

Wow sorry I have no idea about that but I hope all turns out ok... I second the notion that any new geckos you bring into the home should be quarantined before put with your already existing geckos. Its just so that you can monitor them make sure they are eating and pooping and that there are no signs of sickness. They can spread fast. Good luck and hopefully some of the professionals will be around shortly to give their advice. Have you tried to find a herp vet? Maybe you could call and see what they have to say about it.

that shaking doesnt look like an enigma defect. and the animal doesnt look like an enigma.

From the vids, its weird but ive seen this before. Normally gecko's shake their legs like that to get off substrate stuck on their feet, they shake it off.
But its strange how he is doing it after ev ery step.
What is the substrate/floor he is on? as maybe he doesnt like it and it feels funny to his legs?
and are the temps okay, maybe the ground is very cold or something...

I know these are lame solutions but... im stumped lol.

Its a soft rubber matting. Same thing used on car flooring, but only thinner. It is supposed to be warm. Our temp here is about 27-31 C.

I also use this matting in my Hi yellow LG. He doesnt shake his legs

Looks like a calcium defect too me. Up the amount of calcium intake it is getting and you will probably see an improvement. If not then would suggest getting it to a vet.

I know this is off topic... but where did you get your enclosures? I like them! Did you build them yourself or does someone sell them?

As for the calcium: Go find pure calcium (No vitamin D3 and no phosphorous). You can place it in the cage in a small container about the size of a sport drink cap. The gecko will eat it when he wants to.

Like i said before... it does not really seem to be something that could spread to another animal... but in any case though in seperate tanks it can still be passed through the air (just for future reference! :) I read something before that was similar to MBD? So I was also going to comment on making sure to use Calcium... No matter what it happens to be hope it is all ok and do some research on the health of a leo... you will learn a lot and though it does not seem to be an enigma.... please do research on enigmas and enigmas syndrome before you ever purchase one! Good luck!

yup i second what was said above, when purchasin a new gecko, quarantine doesnt just mean have them in a seperate cage, it mean keep them in a seperate room or at least at the opposite side of the room and always wash hands after handling the new gecko.

Also i agree with rmemeber to research enigmas thoroughly before buying one.

And i love that rack and enclosures cool set up.

The back right leg looks to me to have an odd bend to it almost like the starts of MBD. I second keeping the cap of calcium in the tank to make sure it is getting enough calcium, either that or dust food daily with repashy calcium plus icb for a while to make sure they are getting the proper supplimentation. It could be a simple vit. deficiency that could be cleared up with just some regular daily dusting with a well baanced suppliment like the repashy.
