Ok I have a very young leopard (firewater I was told)....got him on the 17th.

Now as best I can tell he has not eaten anything since I got him.

So anyway I just held a small cricket in front of him and to be honest it was as if he is completly blind...or close to it. He went for the cricket but missed and unless I hold it and move it around in front of his face he will not see anything.

By the way he has had worms in a shallow dish since I got him and he has never eaten a single one.

This is the first young one I have ever had so maybe there is just something I don't know but I'm a little worried.

Pics of him...

First and foremost, he is a very handsome leo. He could still just be adjusting. I've had leos eat right out of the egg, and others that go on hunger strikes that last weeks. I wouldn't worry much unless he's losing a lot of weight. Can you give us a run down on your setup for him? A few universal tips to getting a leo to eat are bumping up the temps 2-3 degrees Farenheit, adding unflavored pedialyte (or other electrolytes) to his water, and making sure you're providing a good source of belly heat.

Are you sure he was eating crickets at the breeder's? ALso I see he's an albino. Be sure the lights are really low when you're feeding to be sure the light isn't hurting his eyes. Leave a bowl of mealworms in case that attracts him.

My setup is good to go. Slate substrate with a little layer of sand under it and a UTH. Warm side and cool side hides as well as a humid hide. Bowel of water and a bowel of calcium w/o d3. Temps are good to go...

Well he's still not eating. Going to try pulling the legs off of a few small crickets and seeing if he will eat them.

Yea, pull off the back legs and put them in a shallow dish near where he sleeps; leave it in overnight. He might be more interested when its dark and no one is around.

Mine stopped eating totally for 3 months and now he's eating like a pig again. There are days when he almost appears drunk. He'll lunge at a mealworm and miss it several times in a row. Then the next day he'll catch every worm he lunges at in the first try.
