Need some help with beetles.

Hello.

Last night I got another beetle. My total beetle colony is now two. I have a few questions, I hope you can answer them. Okay, now for the questions. 1. Why is the new beetle larger and diffrent colored than the older beetle? It also has what looks like wings. What does this mean, that it's male or female? 2. The older beetle is a dark brown color. What does this mean. That he is dehydrated? What can I do to fix this? I have potato laying on top of the oats. 3. They ( the beetles) seem to have no interest in each other. They are in a small sterile plastic conatiner. What is wrong?

1.) The beetles get darker as they mature..they should turn black soon. I think they all have wings.
2.) As they get older they get darker, and become black soon.
3.) They are not mature yet
